You're welcome, Irena.

Didn't notice, Suzy. My own typing is so bad nowadays that I try not to notice my mistakes and hope you all have pity.

pumpkinhead

So, my comment should have been "GROWN" ups not Grow ups. DUH!

irmachac2

Beautiful. Thanks a lot Irena :-)

Toto

I think we were way below their interest level, Suzy. A couple of land bound critters too big to carry away for dinner just didn't seem too bother them.

Thanks, Kossamu.

pumpkinhead

Grow ups and teenybopper. A great experience.
Do you think they looked at you and Jack and said to each other, "One adult and one kid!" ? :)

Kossamu

Getting spoiled and envious over your eagle watching and the pictures of your findings. Thanks so much Toto..❤️❤️

Toto

Laura, you'll need to get up north far enough to where the river is frozen and then you have to get right down on the river around the locks and dams to see them. Check out this web site for specific viewing/eagle days up and down the river - https://www2.illinois.gov/sites/eagles/Pages/EagleWatching.aspx - Jack and I drove down a lot of little frozen, rutted roads to get to the best viewing areas.

You're quite welcome, gardenimp. Jack and I have gone eagle watching for many years and this year has been quite phenomenal for the numbers.

It really is quite spectacular, Lorna.

goingsilver

I envy you this wonderful sight!

gardenimp

Thanks, Toto for that info.

laurajane

Fantastic! Recently, I drove down the Great River Road in Illinois to find eagles, but didn't see any!

Toto

5 degrees Fahrenheti, winds about 20 mph out of the north, and snow beginning to fall, Beekay. Suzy's type of weather no doubt.

The smaller brown eagle on the lower branch is a juvenile bald eagle, gardenimp. The eagles do not obtain the darker plumage and striking white heads until they reach about 5 years. Adult males and females share the same striking plumage.

gardenimp

Are they considered bald eagles and the one on the lower branch with no white on the head, is that a female?

Beekay

Worth braving the cold to see such a magnificent sight.
