Ah... that might also be a reason why the saplings don't thrive too well. Thanks for the tip - I have enough sunny places for the next try :))!

This butterfly bush was planted on the edge of a friend's vegetable garden and was full of butterflies. This one, you can see where the wings are torn, but still he flies and enjoys the nectar from this bush. I hope you will have better luck next time you plant a butterfly bush. I do not have enough sun in my yard for this bush. We live more in the woods with tall trees to provide shade all around.

Oh, how I try to raise a butterfly bush in our garden! Twice I have bought and planted one, but each time someone (human or animal) trampled on the young sapling and killed it. I will now plant another one and put bear traps around :((( - maybe then I can take fotos of butterlies next year! ;) This one looks like one we call 'postillon butterfly' here. Thanks for sharing!

This bush was quite large, twosparrows, and had many butterflies hovering around it and on it. Thank you.

How suitable to have a butterfly on a butterfly bush.

Petunias are pretty hardy, Ardy. But I hope they have time to recover before another blow!
Thank you. It seems to be managing just fine without tail and even part of the main wing. hugs

It may be battered and torn but it's up and at work. That's doing a lot better than I am. ☺ Wonderful photo, Jacki. Thank you. About 5 minus of HEAVY rain late yesterday afternoon. The petunias need to pull themselves back up - again this week. ♥Hugs♥

Thank you all, Shirley, Jill, Patti, and Val. This may be the best shot of the whole trip, and I'm delighted to be able to share it!

Thanks, Ginni.

Thank you, Suzy. I was really pleased with the way this one came out! The butterfly bush is VERY well named!

You're welcome Janet, and thank You. It amazes me how well he can fly when he's missing almost a quarter of his wings.

Beautiful thanks Jacki, it is a poor battered butterfly. hugs ♥

Super close up of both the butterfly and the bush named for them. The butterfly bush really is an attraction for them!
Thank you, Jacki!

This one shows more of the wing (and the tatters). And better details of the flowers on the bush. Thanks Alias
