nanab

Hoff will you please sing to TIM.

msbonne

That you can shoot and eat.

rswestley

Now I'm sad.... why did you have to bring grouse into the conversation? Did a ruffled grouse ruffle your feathers? THAT's what ruffled grouse do... they ruffle! Some of my best friends are grouse... grouses... grous's, grousers... aw hell... they're short, squat little geese....

nanab

That's nice Hoff.
Mischka, you weren't being "grousy," I get what you were saying and feeling.

msbonne

Sing, sing a song,
Sing out loud, sing out strong,
Sing of the good things, not bad,
Sing of the happy, not sad . . .

nanab

Oh, you're happy again, YAY - (°ᴗ°) ♡

nanab

Was it my singing Mischka?
I have a feeling it wasn't any of my comments, I just read some that I had missed.

Mischka

Really, truly. I deleted that grousy comment, see?

Please keep being you. I love you, and what would we do without Rudy?

Mischka

Oh dear, Nana, I'm going to remove that post. I was suddenly sad, that's all.

Now, going to a different puzzle, I am all cheered up and laughing again! Please, don't change a thing. I love you as you are.

hippo

Happy birthmonth (again) Mischka.

Happy birthmonth too to me! :))

nanab

My feelings aren't hurt, what part is making you sad? I'd be happy to remove all of mine if need be.

California’s Central Valley's mountains don't keep all the pests out... I've been there several times...

Juba1010

California’s Central Valley is surrounded by mountains that keep out pests from out of state. It is a valuable agricultural region and therefore we have inspection stations to protect it.

@racoonstar
Years ago, had bowling tournaments in Cleveland, Ohio and another in Minneapolis, Minn. Each one told us of the boundaries. NSEW if you go beyond go at your own risk.
I think every big city has something.

@patsquire
Most is black on black usually over drugs and gangs. Lori Lightfoot has her hands full as has every Mayor before her. Except Rich Daley Sr.. That is my view only.

rswestley

Several times a year I enter California and pass through their produce inspection stations. The agent "inspecting" the cars for illicit produce are like talking dolls. You pull their string and they say "do you have any fruits of vegetables" followed by a hand motion that looks like they are shooing away a bothersome fly. Sometimes they shoo you through without making you stop or answer their pre-recorded question. You could have a bag full of overripe Glocks or boxes of insect infested S&Ws and they don't seem to care

racoonstar

There are produce inspection stations on roads leading into California from other states. If they are open they ask if you have any fruits, vegetables, or plants.

https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/plant/pe/exteriorexclusion/borders.html

I have not visited every US state, but I've been through most of them, and driving from Arizona into California is the only time I've ever seen any kind of border station. Most you only see a "now leaving" sign followed by a "welcome to" sign along the side of the road.

As for Chicago, even if you only look at murders, it's ranked 10th. If you look at all crimes it drops too about 17th.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate

There are two cities in Tennessee that are worse in terms of murder: Nashville and Memphis. I did some work in Memphis years ago, and when I was talking to the client about the visit they suggested a couple of hotels to stay out, and then told me to stay East of a particular North/South road in town, as anything West of it was too dangerous.

msbonne

Just drive across, no checkpoints, sometimes you don't even know you have crossed. Chicago may have tough laws, the are just not enforced.

hippo

How easy is it to cross a state boundary in the USA?

patsquire

Yes, but they have all these gun control laws. So strict. So how can there be shootings?

rswestley

That's Chicago.

Mischka

That's terrible.

patsquire

I just read the article. Frankly, I don't understand it. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in America, so how can there be any shootings at all, let alone so many shootings every day? I guess I just don't get it.

14 shot - 5 fatally - Thursday in Chicago

Crime is still going on in Chicago.

Mischka

Thank you, honey, you too!

Happy Birthday and many more. Keep well and stay safe!!!

ParsonWayne

Then you are in the right group, Fiona, since you are in favor of good-hearted insanity.

nanab

Juba, we did blame Bub. LOL

nanab

Oh, that's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh. We like it, uh-huh, uh-huh. : )

patsquire

Me too. I've never heard of TOP before this.

Donnajames

Okay, I give, what is TOP???

racoonstar

Nope. Much better!

Mischka

Thank you, dear Pat.

I can't believe I mistyped Times Square TWICE.

I am not merely tolerant of your good hearted insanity, I am fervently in favor of it.

Is TOP like the SNL Five-Timers Club?

Juba1010

I did say “possible”. You can blame Bub for my membership.

nanab

Juba, TOP have to convene and vote on any new requests for membership.
It's a lengthy process that takes about 3 or 4 minutes.

patsquire

I'll take your word for it Juba, and welcome to the fun crowd on Jigidi. ☺ ☺ ☺ I agree with you about Eli Lilly, it's a lot better than "psychic healing" or "touchesis" or whatever else Scientology is peddling these days.

Juba1010

As a new member of the group and a possible new recruit for TOP , Fiona seems tolerant of our good hearted insanity. I’d like to thank Donnajames for the lovely playground.

Eli Lilly May have saved several of us from death with antibiotics in our lifetime. I don’t think I’m evil. I guess it depends on who you ask.

patsquire

My older sister is a long-time Scientologist. She believes EVERYTHING they tell her. She shared with me the *real* root of all evil - - the Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company. Seriously! That's what she was taught and that's what she believes. Eli Lilly is the biggest evil in the world.

How'd we get so far afield from Fiona's Happy Birthday?

♩♬ ♪ Haaaaappppy birthdaaaaaay sweet Fiona! ♬ ♪ ♫
♬ ♪ ♫ Haaaaappppy birthdaaaaaay to yooooouuuuu! ♪ ♫ ♬

msbonne

I still have trampolines.

racoonstar

Times Square is an "X" shaped, so not all a root.

Roots are the things in the ground that keep your tree from falling over.
The ground is the solid place you keep landing on with your head when you slip (aka "fall") out of your tree.

msbonne

I thought it was the square root.

Mischka

Hippo, John and Juba, thank you for the heartwarming stories.

I got teary-eyed when I saw a news story last night about how good this staying-home is for the environment. They showed Last Week and Today photos of L.A. and New Delhi, both with blue skies. Riparian life in Venice. Sloths in Time Square. Horses on street corners.

Time Square, as you know, is the root of all evil.

Juba1010

The cops up here had to pull over a woman that shopped at the dollar store with a face mask on, coughing and touching her face under it. After she had paid the pregnant clerk, she lifted her mask on the way out and said that they thought it was probably corona virus so....

Luckily the sheriff was parked right outside, they got her liscense # and reported her. Then they sterilized everything in the store.

msbonne

Always post a "I tested positive" sign in the rear and side windows of your car. You may now travel as rapidly as you would like.

rswestley

Pat has a good point. I have not read anywhere about the number of law enforcement personnel that has taken time off due to the threat COVID-19, nor have I read about an increase in crime. I haven't seen any many police out cruising the streets since the "C" word raised it's ugly head... probably because the "I saw Mr. Jones outside his home and he was NOT wearing a face mask" calls have now taken the #1 priority over such petty crimes as rape, murder, DUI and the unwarranted disposal of leftover Spam.

But yesterday while I was wandering about the state, the Sheriff, Highway Patrol and State Troopers were EVERYWHERE. Hiding under the overpasses, hiding in the tall brush, wearing their killer whale disguises. I would normally be paranoid with so many law enforcement officers waiting to nab their next unsuspecting prey... so I just kept my head down, kept texting and kept driving and didn't notice anything (including the car with passengers screaming obscenities at me and the two cars I forced into a ditch)

racoonstar

@hippo - I'm personally fond of my vintage "Reynolds Wrapper". One of the silliest names for an aluminum bat I've ever heard of.

msbonne

What is happening to their inventory?

asking for a friend.

hippo

It's down here too, even without the guns (though I WOULD like a hefty baseball bat!) :))

Also drug dealers on street corners really stand out now, so a lot more of them are getting nabbed... every cloud, silver lining...

patsquire

Yeah, you're right. Crime is down all over, mainly because people are home with their guns and the thieves know it.

msbonne

You are always welcome to drop by Pat (Second through seventh tree on the left).
You may need to wait until this whole isolation thingy is eased.

patsquire

Um, exactly where do you live, Hoff old buddy old pal. If you have treasure I might stop by some time. Heh-heh-heh, y'know even if you chase me you're never gonna catch me.

msbonne

I am lucky that I am such a treasure (humble treasure that is).

Mischka

I treasure how lucky I am.

racoonstar

What the Parson said. :)

ParsonWayne

You have a lot of friends on jigidi, Fiona.

Mischka

OMG, I adore my crazy friends. LOL LOL.

hippo

Hoff has super high heels? While hula-hooping yet??

Ninja balancing skills I suppose...

Donnajames

How about the image of you walking down the runway in super high heels!!!

Juba1010

They both have tiny arms...

msbonne

:::shivering while getting images of Godzilla:::

Juba1010

A roo will crush a model plane with its tail if it gets too close.

msbonne

What if you are a model?

Donnajames

You're not supposed to build your house on a runway!

dhi

Okay, you have me laughing.

msbonne

When planes crash into a roo, they are quite often war planes trying to start a war.
Roos have been known to get hopping mad when things like this happen. If you see a plane headed for your roo, calmly, yet quickly, fetch your ground to air missile, aim and fire.

Juba1010

Or her kangaroo?

dhi

Mischka - Are planes crashing into your roof a frequent occurrence? lol

Mischka

I'm overwhelmed, and still very happy.

Now all I need is to stay safe from planes crashing into my roo

Yes Mischka, the happiest of birthdays to you.

dbnc2

first i know i'm late but i hope you had
a butterfly on your shoulder
and a happy little song in your heart kind of day
wishing you many more

hippo

Happy birth-yesterday Fiona.

I don't have the sloth's excuse but I DO live in a different time zone... and my tardis is being serviced at the moment...

msbonne

Happy day after birthday.

Mischka

Oh you lovely folks... I am laughing and wiping my eyes. Donna knows I am a fan of cheese over desserts.

Wayne, you delight me, but I am also a fan of each and every one of you. I had a rough few years there, and this has been the happiest year of my life in so many ways, and absolutely the Jigidiers have been a major cause.

Juba, you are definitely welcome. The porch light is on, come on in. You will meet two very friendly black cats. I mean, ALL of you will.

Pat, I am a dope, I meant washing my hands, not brushing my teeth. "Years from now, when you talk about this, and you will, be kind." We've been friends since probably my first months here. You're, like, the graceful dancing Scarecrow to this finding-my-way Dorothy.

I am sorry to head to bed, but I know this grin will still be here when I wake up.

I hope all of you will find a winning lottery ticket in the street tomorrow.

Juba1010

What a cheesy birthday card....Happy Birthday Fiona! Glad you have wine and cheese. I’ve got cat food. :-)

patsquire

You’re welcome! I don’t think I’ve ever been in someone’s thoughts while they brushed their teeth before! ☺ ☺ ☺

ParsonWayne

You have a lot of fans in Jigidi, Fiona.

Donnajames

I do hope you like your birthday 'cake'. I thought you would like this better than something sweet...mainly because you are already sweet!

Mischka

And thanks for the song, Pat! I thought of you while brushing my teeth.

Mischka

This is such a sweet surprise, no one needs to apologize for anything. I'm thrilled.

msbonne

:::sigh:::

Story of my life.

racoonstar

Happy Birthday!

@msbonne - you're a tad late for last year's party...

msbonne

Happy, Happy. I was going to wish that earlier, but, I AM a sloth.....

Mischka

It's been a perfect day, thank you all.

jerrys

Happy Birthday...and many more!

Thank you, Wayne, but I do count myself in the animal kingdom.

Thank you especially, dj, for your thoughtfulness and taking the time.

Mischka

The more the merrier! I have white wine ... bring enough for yourselves, lol. Let's see, I have pizza ... lobster ... getting low on cat food...

dhi

What a lovely birthday gift. Can I bring the wine and crackers?

ParsonWayne

Love your avatar. Most of us look like animals - dogs, cats, horses, and of course, our resident sloth - Hoff.

Donnajames

You mean I remembered it correctly??!!!!! Yeah!!!! Happy Birthday my friend and sister from other parents!

ParsonWayne

Happy 25th birthday, Fiona. :o)))

Mischka

I did have a good day today. I went to my pain management doctor and he upped my meds! That's a celebration unto itself.

But knowing all my Jig friends is a cause for celebration every hour of every day. I love you all!

Mischka

Oh gosh, thanks! I'm all teary now. That cheese looks sooo good!

Donnajames

@rswestley (sorry bout that)
