Ålbæk (also spelled Aalbæk) is a small coastal town in Vendsyssel, North Jutland, Denmark, with a population of 1,419 as of January 1, 2025. It lies on the northern Kattegat coast - midway between Frederikshavn and Skagen - and located in the inner part of Ålbæk Bay (Ålbæk Bugt).

Founded as a fishing village, Ålbæk still retains its maritime character. The harbor, built and opened in 1930, serves both local fishermen and leisure yachts. Today, it's a blend of a working harbor and recreational marina, with around 125 berths for pleasure craft.

The harbor is bordered by wide sandy beaches with shallow waters. It serves both local fishing boats and visiting leisure vessels, and is active throughout the year, particularly during the summer season. The surrounding area includes walking paths and a few cafés, making it a modest but functional center for local activity and tourism.

Ålbæk is also known as the "Village of Light," referenced by its open skies and sunny locale. It's connected by the Skagen railway line (the station opened in 1890; current building from 1932–33) to Frederikshavn and Skagen. The surrounding landscape includes the famous Råbjerg Mile and other scenic coastal dunes ♥

I noticed the boat in the air.

NancyMN you sure have great eyes site. I still couldn't find the 2 bicycles even after you told me.

@NancyMN perhaps they bicycled from their house down to the boat? I notice it's one woman's bike and one man's.

Great harborside scene -- though I wonder why the bicycles are so close to the end of the pier? I think I'll go for a sail.
