Tincup 13 February 2020 Nailed it Pat. patw 13 February 2020 Let me set your minds at ease about this lady. She's a waitress bringing a tray of dinners to a table. At the last minute, she spotted a guy's service dog sleeping right in her path and is leaping over it as we watch. She and the dog will be fine, but things aren't looking too good for those dinners. I think something might be burning in the kitchen too. Plumpossum 25 January 2020 Never mind, Larry. Just chill out with a mug of hot chocolate made with moo juice. LarryTheCrashTestDummy 25 January 2020 Boo! Er... I mean Moo! or is it Boo Moo? I'm so confused now... Plumpossum 25 January 2020 She once painted a huge mural of cows on the side of a local building. It was impressive, but it was eventually painted over by an owner or tenant who evidently didn't like it. Bill_I_Am 25 January 2020 Some of her portraiture reminds me of Alice Neel's work. Yes, I like the cows! Tincup 25 January 2020 Thank you Andy, I thought of you as I was sleuthing. I didn't see this one either. I vote for a cow. LarryTheCrashTestDummy 25 January 2020 Nice job tracking her down, Marilee! I hadn't thought to do that either, and I'm usually off sniffing around like a bloodhound. Curiously, I didn't see this one anywhere in her collections on her site. Did you see it there? It would be nice to know her title to it. I really like her cows - I may have to post one of them :-) What do y'all think? Plumpossum 25 January 2020 Thanks for your research, Tincup. I had not thought to google her. Thanks, Bill. The painting of a man on an Andalusian horse once hung on the wall in my living room. Bill_I_Am 25 January 2020 Lots of her pictures of children and children with animals are quite sweet. Whatever its meaning, I like this one. Thanks for the introduction, Plum! Tincup 25 January 2020 Wow, what a painter! https://ellenirvine.com/GalleryMain.asp?GalleryID=178400&AKey=XKTWG5L2She also spent 22 years working for foreign service. Lots of her monotypes are scary like this one. Plumpossum 25 January 2020 Larry, I do not know the actual title of the piece; I call it "Psycho" because it strikes me as the expression of someone who might be struggling with inner demons. Returner, yes, I , too, find it disconcerting. I do hope she has moved on by now. Yes, I agree with you, Tincup -- it is strange. Tincup 25 January 2020 That painting sure evokes a feeling of fear in me. The middle section of her body is crazy strange, not to mention the tension in the rest of piece. Returner 25 January 2020 How much freedom does she have? Any? Is she pleased with this state or wishing she could move on? Disconcerting. LarryTheCrashTestDummy 25 January 2020 Very odd, but kind of entrancing, discerning what's going on with this person, tumbling through the dark mist. Is this someone drifting of into dreams after reading that book? Particularly intriguing is that subtle prismatic aura that seems to wrap around our subject. Psycho? Is that the given title, how a disturbed individual perceives their subconsciousness? Interesting work - I'm guessing charcoal on paper with a little pastel pencil? Thanks Plum.
