They walk on the ice with the ducks and the geese. Some times they fly out to splash in the open water out in the lake. They also fly to the farm fields to look for bits of old corn or other grains.

Where do they go when there is only ice???

Horses and swans are too pretty to eat.

We are blessed to have Canada's largest flock of over wintering Trumpeter Swans.
This is the natural winter home of 200 to 300 swans that were here long before we came here some 14,000 years ago. They were wiped out around the 1850's it turns out they are delicious and easy to catch.

Sunny and chilly here today, too. S_ _w is predicted. :(

P.S. Do the swans linger through winter rather than flying south?

It was very nice this morning, some sun at last.

Wow, gorgeous!
