Canning Day by Janet Kruskamp

Americana scene: Canning Day, a painting of an American farm kitchen of the 1930's displays the harvest of the day: corn, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers and squash on the kitchen table. A canning steamer cooks on the stove and mason jars can be seen on the sink. Brightly colored jars of preserves sit on the shelves above the stove. A China hutch to the right displays the fancy pattern cups on cup hooks with more preserves in front of the displayed plates. Kittens play under the sink an in an open cupboard while mama cat sleeps in her bed under the stove. Janet's artistic talents surfaced very early in life. Her father once joked that she was born with crayons in one hand and a paint brush in the other! By the age of two Janet was already a prolific artist drawing such characters as the Planters' Peanut Man and many Disney characters.
