The snowy landscape on both sides of the river Lek illustrates the severity of the last winter in World War II, the so called Hunger winter. This photo is just one of a collection of over 94,000 aerial photographs held by Wageningen University & Research – Library, Special Collections. The photos were made by the Allied Air Force (RAF) flying over the Netherlands.
