Hi Cheryl--It is a fresh water spring. In Florida they run about 72*F all year. The Withlacoochee River has many springs along its length. The brown water is the color of the river water (lots of tannins). The water pouring out of the spring pushes the river water back a little ways. The tree is a cypress as far as I know. I'll post another photo with my friends in it so you can see the scale/size better.
Ok, I'm confused. I thought the blue and turquoise part was a hot spring until I read your comment. Can you explain the blue/turquoise part as opposed to the larger water in the rear. What is the tree in the middle? Thanks for sharing, Sue.
HI Jan, yes, it is so pretty. Plenty of room to tie out the horses and enjoy lunch. There are steps going down to it with a nice wide pier you can sit on and dangle your toes in the cold water.
