Oh, yes! Elms are terrible! They're prolific here. The local parks department have been working for the past several years to eradicate them. They are so destructive to sidewalks and city streets, foundations, buried water/sewer lines, etc. They grow rapidly with a massive root system plus their invasive insects can swarm some years! Just a disgusting error of Mother Nature!!!

@JayneH - I understand, we have that issue with elm trees. They quickly pop up everywhere

Norway Maple helicopters plant themselves in my yard and each summer to fall I'm deforesting! Not appreciated! ;-/

Wonderful! I don't remember them being so colourful. (Very few maples here in Calgary.)
