In the US Packet Boats were used on the Erie Canal with horses pulling them I think. However, the term packet was use long before then and by much larger faster vessels either sail or steam. Packet refers to regular service by vessel which originally carried Mail and packages that needed on time delivery. The earlier sailing ships were smaller and faster. Go to Google and look up Packet Boats very interesting. TRSOKC 1 February 2017 I will have look this one up for sure. The Marking I think is the Isle Mann. I have heard of Packet Ships but can't remember what's their purpose. Why this advertisement?
