Marvelous suggestions, Brightie. I shall copy this note also and when I next procure books, I'll refer to your list. Thanks so much - I am most unhappy when some of my favorite authors stop writing new books. I understand that death does slow one down - but really!! What about my desire for them to write more books???!! Hugs to you.
I know what you mean !! I LOVE Diana Gabaldon - i got introduced to her first book when i was about 28 it was called Cross Stitch and then every 2/3 years she would come out with the next one - all in all their were about 9. Then they gave it a new name OUTLANDER and made a tv series of it - it was riveting !!!!!!!! Have you read PHANTOM by Susan Kay - I also loved it based on the Phantom of the Opera ☺☺another good thriller author is Lynwood Barclay (never look away, too close too home, no time for goodbye, the accident)
Lots of good sugestions, Brightie. I shall copy your post and see what I can find. I have read Follet and Clark and Coban, but I'll check out the others. I'm always looking for new authors because the ones I like don't write fast enough or have the nerve to pass away!! Hugs to you, my dear friend. @brightspark
oooh my friend - try barbara erskine : lady of hay, kingdom of shadows. Pillars of the earth by ken follet, I love Margaret George - she has written novels like Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth, Mary, Helen of Troy. Mysteries Harlan Coban, Liane Moriarty, Mary Higgins Clark. At our bookclub (there are 8 of us) we buy about 8-10 books a time - that way we all get to take out and read a variety of books. (i always take out about 12!!) Our meetings were every month, then it became every 2 months and now maybe once a year ☺☺☺ @Capnjack hugs and blessings
Unfortunately, we no longer have a convenient used book store nearby but we do pass books among our friends. I have read some of the authors you mentioned. I'm a mystery reader and I like some fantasy - Mercedes Lackey, Patricia Briggs type - and sometimes historical mysteries - Anne Perry and there are a couple newer authors out that I've enjoyed. I started out on Nancy Drew books that belonged to my cousin and never looked back! Hugs to you, Brightie.
@Capnjack I prefer a real book - my girls have kindles and use them when they go on holiday ☺ apart from bookclub (where we can take out as many books as we like) I also get a lot of books from the charity shop for next to nothing ☺☺ i have about 50 of my own unread books ... for one day ☺☺ have you read : Kristin Hannah, Diane Chamberlain, Ken Follet, Lesley Pearse, Jodi Picoult - some of my favourite authors - what type of books do you like? In my young days i used to read at least 20 books a month ☺☺☺ when i was a kid i always had my nose in a book or two !!!!!!!!!!!
I suggested we try a Zoom book club but there wasn't any excitement about that idea, so I just read along enjoying any old book I want to! I get pretty antsy if I don't have a book to read and I must say, I do like having a kindle for that reason. I can always get something on my kindle from the library - and I do that regularly. Free is my favorite price for a book! I like Amazon's Book Bub for that reason, too. XXOO
my last bookclub was in January !!!!!!!!!!!! was supposed to be in March but we cancelled it, and i still have many books that i have not even read ☺☺☺ had a lovely lazy day today - read watched tv and helped hubby with a real puzzle ☺☺☺ hope you had a good day too ♥♥♥ hugs xxxxxxxx
Thanks, Brightie. I assume your book club is taking a break for now. Mine is and we are all hopeful that we will all want to regroup when the times comes. I think our last meeting was in February - hard to believe. Hope you had a good snooze! ❤❤❤
