Hey Mazy - I may be coming to Vancouver within the next year to do a "Big Chill" with some old college friends. I have one friend who lives in Seattle and the rest of us live back East. Just starting to discuss now . . .
I'm just trying to think of all the vehicles I've lived in - touring of course, not homeless (poor souls). Never have and never will park at Walmart though (they're the devil).
1976 Chevy Blazer 3 speed, moving from Vancouver to Anchorage, and camping trips up to Circle City, with my mom and brother when I was just a child
Later 70's Holden Station Wagon - 2 different ones both different versions of what can only be called pea green:
1) with 2 nice German dudes who reminded me of "Und now on schprockets, ve danse!", Melbourne - Adelaide, about a week
2) with another blonde Canadian girl who became and remains one of my dearest friends ever - they gave me her husband's old SAAB this time last year when they moved to S America - three or four weeks, across Aus from Melbourne to Perth
!980 Toyota Hiace 2 - 3 months (with 4 others and a tent, rotating who got to sleep in the van with the foamy and who had to sleep in the tent on the stony ground on a blanket - I kid you not), From Perth to Darwin to Alice Springs to Cairns, WA, NT, and QNSLD, Australia
A truly bizarre camper made from the Holden version of what looked a little like a late 60s Mini Cooper station wagon, with a pop top and back tailgate that the bed unfolded into, with my ex husband, around N and S Island NZ for 5 or 6 weeks
The 72 VW van for 5 months, western states, BC, Alberta
1990 Toyota Pickup with a long box and a good canopy - about 3 1/2 months, northern Canada / Alaska / BC / Alberta, and countless short trips in WA state and south central BC
some short 3 -5 day camping trips borrowing my mom's Subaru Forester (definitely not as comfortable or practical as the truck - no curtains and not absolutely flat to sleep on
I had a 64 Ford Econoline that I converted, carpeted, built a pedestal bed, and traveled back East from San Fran where I lived in the early 70's. Lived in it to for several months here in Rochester until it got too cold!
