Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Mouth-watering scones, with fresh clotted cream and strawberry jam.
When eaten plain, the afternoon tea favourite can contain a whopping 740 calories and ten cubes of sugar, according to a survey by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
And when enjoyed with clotted cream and jam, the indulgence can have more than 1,000 calories.
Still fancy a bite? I know I do. Lol

Thanks for the information mommamid. North Carolina is a beautiful state, and I agree with you that Tampa, indeed the whole state of Florida, is HOT!

I like cheese and jam on toast too, but my biggest, and most sinful pleasure, is a bacon and peanut butter sandwich with a touch of honey on whole wheat bread.

mommamid

BTW sandrine2016, I have only been on holiday in North Caroline, I live in the UK, but the weather is very similar as I understand it which is why we considered moving there. I have family in Tampa and have spent a few holidays there but find it far too hot. I'm too old and set in my ways to move again so here I will remain. :)

My eldest son is now 42, but ever since I was pregnant with him I have had a thing for sweet and sour. I love cheese and jam on toast, bacon and banana sandwiches, and the salty dog inside the sweet batter of a corn dog, yum. Lol, sorry ladies, I just do :)

Nanabeth

Have to say I agree with you @sandrine2016 I do not understand corn dogs, fried pickles or fried chocolate

sandrine2016

Can I just say one thing mommamid?

Ok, here it is:

I am American, and although I appreciate and respect different taste preferences, I have never, EVER, EVER understood the concept of the corn dog -- EVER!! It even looks dumb. One of my grandson's loves them, he's even bought them frozen to stock up. You said you spent some time in North Carolina, so maybe it's a regional southern thing.

It's like fried dill pickles, yuck.

Thanks for letting me vent, I will go back to my oatmeal now. :-))

If I had my druthers I would be living near the ocean in North or South Carolina. If I could talk my husband, children and grandchildren into moving to Old Blighty I would be back in Brackley lol As it is I shall just have to content myself to a short visit to see my Dad every couple of years. My parents are both Londoners from the Lambeth/Camberwell part of London

mommamid

It sure is Nanabeth. London born and raised myself, and have family living in Florida, so have been a few times. Lol, I've been tempted to move to the States, really like N.C., but couldn't bare to leave Blighty.

Nanabeth

I see from your profile that you live in Northants, I grew up in Brackley. I moved to my current home 15 years ago and met one of my new neighbours who grew up in Corby. We did not know each other back then but we both married and emigrated to the USA in 1978. How is that for a small world

mommamid

I knew there would be a catch.... LOL

Nanabeth

@mommamaid, it only works if you are an expat :)))))

mommamid

Lol, so if I eat my fav American food in the UK, I'm good to go? Bring on the Corndogs!!

sandrine2016

Now THAT is funny Nanabeth! :)))))

Nanabeth

for me cream first then jam, as for the calories my firm belief is that British food eaten in America contains no calories so you can eat as much Brit food as you can lay your hands (or lips) on ;)

sandrine2016

That makes sense. Thank you! :-)

mommamid

@sandrine2016, it is a matter of preference, but I personally like to put the cream on first as it holds the jam better. I find if the jam goes first, being more liquid, the cream slips off. Lol, but that's just me.

sandrine2016

Okay, so here is my question. Although it may be a matter of personal preference, is it more common to top the clotted cream with the jam or top the jam with the cream?

karen14

Oh, it looks so good. I have to order clotted cream from England through Amazon, as well as English Toffee and Walker’s smoky bacon crisps.

jirma48

Nádhera! Chuťově určitě vynikající, škoda, že nejsem u nich.

mommamid

A woman after my own heart!! Live for today, tomorrow will take care of itself. Lol

Lia

I don't care about those calories, come on with the scones!!!!!
