globetrotter14

Unusual colours together but it works very well

JillianB

Dobra it is mostly the older wooden doors that are painted. I like it too and your blue door made a nice difference. :)

Jaklien I agree does look cosy, thank you

Beth Queen Victoria was on the throne at that time, but had been for some time so ??

Judy they have used the historic colours which is good. Thank you

Does suit the building I agree Janet, thank you ❤️

Nev they are interesting comments, they do have a new public library at the High School, but this one still has a lot of older and reference books. Good for you checking it out 😄Thank you ❤️

Jill, there were many fine write-ups about this library on Trip Adviser, and this one was fairly typical:
"A lovely building that has an old lady as a docent [guide] and she chatted with us about the building that was inaugurated as the Akaroa Literary and Scientific Institute in 1875.
There is a long wooden table that covers most of the room and there are many old volumes of books in the shelves. I could only imagine the meetings, political or social, that took place in this room many decades ago.
Volunteers keep it tidy and open to visitors."

Another visitor said they sell old books there, which helps towards the upkeep. ♥♥♥

Jerry we are, always a pleasure to have your company. Thank you 😊

It is not customary for us to paint the entrance doors to the houses in color. But I really like it! Maybe because the door to my native house was light blue - no one in the village had it!
