Seems to me that you nailed it, Sherry. Poor cat has no idea what's happening to him and human doesn't have any idea how cats process information.

The camera in his face probably doesn't help. :)

Yes, after looking at the scars, I would dare say that trust had to be an issue on both sides, and probably just when the cat was feeling secure, he was moved again and had to start trusting again all over...I'm sure no one was able to explain short-term foster care to him in a way he could understand upheaval and pain when he had to go...not always a good idea...even here in this picture, he's not really relaxed by the look in his eye and the alertness of his ears...just barely making it ...Sherry
