Why are you reporting this puzzle?

...but the time came for our 19 1/2 year old cat, Tilly, to cross the Rainbow Bridge last Wednesday. We'd had her and loved her since 2013 when some young friends moved to Minnesota from here in OK and couldn't take Tilly along with their two young children and they 'chose' us to be her new family. She rapidly adjusted to her new surroundings, and quickly bonded particularly with my husband who always claims *not* to be a cat person but they almost immediately gravitate towards him. ;-)

Even as her years advanced, she brought us much joy and love. It's quite empty around here.

So sorry you have said goodbye to beautiful Tilly, so glad you shared joy and love for years. Wishing you solace and more joy and love in the new year. -Patsy, 78-year-old Okie transplanted to Calgary.

We love them while they're with us and try to not think of the day when they must go.

@okieclem, thanks.

Sending you a huge hug dear friend. Take care. I too have sent beloved cats across the rainbow bridge. ♥♥♥

Donna, I feel for you with what isn't far off. ♥♥♥

Dizzy and mpp, your stories all resonate all too well. mpp, hubby & I are both saying that at 79, we just can't allow another one into our home & hearts. But...

For a view of Tilly as a kitten, when I wrote Tilly's original keeper about her passing, I received this precious picture of Tilly when she was welcomed by M. on her 15th birthday in 2001 -- thought you might like to see it:

I still choke up when I think of past friends, sometimes find myself saying a word or two to them. I found a very young kitten in September - last thing I wanted or needed, already had one old boy - but he needed a home and I hoped it would be temporary. Well, you know how that went. I mention him because one day he found the box of old cat toys and pulled several out. It seems like my old friends are still around when he plays with their things.

The hardest part is helping them cross over after years of loving them. I have walked each and every one of my furries across. I miss them all dearly and still tear up when I hear others have passed on.

While you may know what is coming, it does mean that their passing is any easier, and we will always miss these family members.

okieclem

Thanks for your comforting words, Pammers1, MEK_SLK, chelsey, 89cscni, Ardy, Donna and mpp. Even when you know what is coming, it's so hard to take that last journey with them.

We've had eight dogs and three cats during our almost 55 years of marriage -- at times, two dogs and a cat concurrently! But each one is his or her own 'person' and occupies a part of our heart. ♥♥♥

So sad to hear of Tilly's passing. She was quite the looker.

dhi

I so feel for you, mine is getting closer to that bridge too.

So sorry Carolee. My Neekei was 19+ and we had had her since her kitten days. It's never easy and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her people. Hugs♥♥

Many tears have flowed for so many reasons. It is definitely hard to have to say goodbye. Feelings for.......

Your story brought tears into my eyes, I have a similar story to tell. I know how empty your place is now. I am sorry for your loss. And as you said IT'S ALWAYS HARD TO SAY GOODBYE.

Okieclem - I'm so sorry about Tilly. It's always so hard to say Goodbye!

I'm sorry for your loss.
