Why are you reporting this puzzle?

This is such a gorgeously done timepiece. I'm posting it in keeping with my recurrent theme of period fashion, this from 1914.

My pleasure, Izna -- thank you! You're welcome! :-D JM

xoxo, Anne!

Thanks both JM and Jeanbean. ;) Lucky we resilient beings us humans. Keep posting them for me. You know I love them. Sometimes I think you picks ones, to see if I'll do them. I have a boatload to do at the moment.

Anne, what a time you've had of it! Bishop looks like a dear one, anyone can see. Getting over that loss must have been very difficult. We lost Luna (a very old cat) two summers ago and our other cat, Max, actually went through a rather long grieving period. Then he, like your other dog, Vegas, stepped up as king of the castle and became even more affectionate than he had been. He no longer looks everywhere for her.

I didn't know about your PCL AND ankle(double Ouch!) from Christmas. I could shake my finger at you for not seeing a doctor but I won't and can't because I understand how it was ... Covid was a fearful deterrent for doctor visits(and everything else!) and I did the same thing. Those injuries are so painful and such a hassle to correct. Geez, I'm sorry, my friend. It's been haul, then, for you. I'm happy that you enjoy puzzling and I love to have you. Sending up prayers that you may soon have boot freedom! You're always welcome. xoxo JM

JB, Your explanation makes me see your logic; I understand why you think what you think. Also, very kind of you about Dulcette, who is one of my favorites. So happy to have you here! xoxo JM

Dulcette - intersting! :D
Also, though you weren't talking to me...I hope you recover quickly with your ankle, and I'm sorry about losing your dog.

Dulcette

JM, still in a foot boot and a leg brace. Tore my PCL and twisted my ankle over Xmas. /faceslap. Then too stubborn to go to the doctors during covid and now paying the price. Still missing my beloved Bishop (the dog on the right). Though to be honest, Vegas (left) is coming into his own. Thank you as always for posting puzzles that take me away from my mathematical/teaching workdays

Jeanbean, it was very common after Sunday service to head to the beach for a packed picnic. In Britain beaches can be quite cold. There is something to be said for the elegance of that day.

Oh, yes! A sand shovel! Of course! Thank you, JM and Dulcette! And yes, maybe it's a blanket. The reason I thought it might be the little girl's coat is because the color and pattern seem to match the girl's scarf.
I had a co-worker years ago who was English, and her parents were older than average when she was born, and she showed me a picture of her mom and aunt on the beach in blouses and skirts with sweaters on, carrying their shoes and stockings, and their purses. Lol. It seemed so out of place to me. It wasn't completely normal anymore at the time the picture was taken, but for the two of them it still was. I imagine some beaches are colder. Maybe that explains all the clothes.

Hello, Anne! I agree with your assessment. I really loved this one too. Hope you're well and maybe able to get out again? Best, JM

Greetings, Jeanbean! Of course, I have no way of knowing who she is but I think that your guess is good about her being a nanny. She is carrying a little sand shovel in her hand. Imagine wearing that much clothing to the beach lol! JM

Dulcette

Great picture. I too love the long skirts and the details. I'd say they are heading to the beach, because that looks like a sand shovel for her to play with. I would it's a blanket draped over her arms for them to sit on. Those days, they dressed up for their outings, even to the beach.

Is the woman on the right a nurse? Like a nanny? It looks like she's carrying the little girl's coat. But what is in her hand?

Hello to you, Anngee! I'm happy to have you on this site. You've nailed it with all of the things that make this painting so special. Thank you very much! JM

:very evocative of the period. I love some of the features on the clothes and the gorgeous vibrant colours. A very enjoyable puzzle to solve.
