thanks lela - it’s nice to know my memory still seems to work ;>}

Sonsy has just said what I was thinking (about the fire irons).

sonsy

The strange tools are fire irons - a poker and a pair of tongs to pick up coal or wood these often hung on a stand in the fireplace in the ‘good old ‘ (?) days. Perhaps the warmth of the fire drew these two scallywags to the hearth to lick their wounds and make up!

I'm glad that you all like Bonzo as much as I do!
Warner, I'd wondered what the instruments were too. The one looks like a compass of some sort. I don't know what they are, but I'm imagining the real Bonzo and real cat sat on the desk of the artist and he drew them.

My cats all sit on my desk regularly and paw at the screen or my hands as they press the keyboard. 😁

It's time we shook hands and became friends!!!!!

Artola

They look like drawing instruments.

What is (are) the contraption in front of Bonzo?

lelabugosi

Artola

Aw, Bonzo is this your new buddy?

Oh, how I love BONZO
