I'm aching to do something large and complex.
This is an oil painting by Donato Giancola which I'd love to see in person: it's 5' tall and 11' wide, at the scale of proper epic paintings! Now that's a good way to approach illustrating The Silmarillion - although the colours are a bit strong, I feel. The link below also shows them doing the terrifying job of stretching the painted canvas onto its supports: I thought you were supposed to do that *before* you painted it!
