Thank you Patti and Lunie. I'm glad this bird didn't seem too troubled by our walking past. It's certainly not tame but perhaps just has no fear of humans. Boobies in the Galapagos were totally unconcerned about visiting humans.
SunnyBarb this bird was about 8 feet away from a footpath used by rare human visitors. It didn't seem particular disturbed when we stopped briefly to take a few pics and continue our walk. I was very surprised to see it there but the guide already knew about it. From most angles on the path it was hidden by foliage but there was this opportunity to get a clear shot. I noticed this one doesn't have the long tail feathers so maybe those are on only one gender. Still don't know enough about them. Thanks for the query SunnyBarb.
