I think it is a native American shrub, Lorna. Both the leaves and berry spires turn a gorgeous red in the fall. It grows wild everywhere and is especially noticable in the fall. The colonists used to make a drink out of the berries that tasted similar to lemonade - or so I have read. I've never felt the urge to document that personally!!
A lovely vibrant colour. I'm unfamiliar with the name, but that is perhaps not surprising since my fingers are definitely not green!
You're welcome, lyndee. Ripe sumac has the most beautiful reds I've ever seen.
Very nice puzzle waxwing. Thanks for sharing.
