Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska

"Alaska is home to more than 3 million lakes, but we have a bit of tunnel vision when it comes to Bear Lake. Located in the Kenai Fjords National Park, the site stands out for its massive glaciers, year-round water sports (kayaking, ice skating, dog mushing), and viewings of the Northern Lights from September through April." ~ cntraveller.com

I'm pleased to be brought back to this one, Pat. I spent a couple of weeks in Alaska and seriously considered moving there I was so struck by its beauty, including these particular wonders. Correct, there is no enhancement in this photograph. Yes also, about the difference changing light can make to their color, and this picture has captured that showing what shadows or the darkness of a heavy mist can do on the left and brighter skies on the right. Nope, there were no kayakers that day. :-)

Enhancement would never have occurred to me. This intense aqua is the colour that glacier fed lakes often have! Examples with millions of photos to google: Lake Louise or Moraine Lake in Alberta. Different lighting can appear to change it sometimes, so all photos may not show it, but if you've seen one in person, you know it can be real!
That kayaking looks like an adventure!
(chose a random back-page in my bookmarks, and it took me here...nice one Pat!)

You're welcome, Gayle.

By the time I get there, the icebergs will be gone. :-/ Thanks, Pat! It is beautiful even if enhanced.

Yupper on both scores.

Hmm, I think this image must have had some enhancement. None of the images on Google Maps shows this intensity of aqua. Otherwise, it's an outstanding image. Thanks, Pat!

Yes, especially the water. When we were in the glacier field south of Anchorage along Turnagain Arm, the water wasn't that color, only large streaks of it in some of the icebergs. It was really striking to see. This, however, is FAR more pronounced. Hmmmm.

Even though this is Alaska, the colorful canoes (and canoeists) and the color of the water give it a tropical feel. Fun!
