Queen are a British rock band that formed in London in 1970. Their classic line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar). Queen's earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock, into their music.

Close, but no cigar . . . this is almost like living in a foreign country !!!

Very affordable, casual living, but some of us refer to it as "Mexifornia" because of all the California influences here (not good).
Dave

klocowolf

wjl1015

No, there's a few I know that are within an hour or two but haven't met anyone else

Jumble

Have you met anyone else from jigidi Joe?

wjl1015

I think it would be great to meet our friends and attend some music festival. I got the idea after meeting Iris last weekend, but she only lives 20 minutes away.

Jumble

Maybe it would, I wish I could take you there Joe.

wjl1015

I'm going to find a concert we can attend, maybe Farm Aid 2017? But it's in the U.S. :(( Maybe you can find something in the U.K. , I'll fly over :))

wjl1015

I might even forget about the pain and just let the music take me back....

Jumble

I'm sure if all of us oldies were together and at one of their concerts, we could all regain our youth even just for a couple of hours. That would be great fun.☺

CJ45

Sadly you are correct Sir Joe.

wjl1015

I remember being that young when I saw them in concert.....time flies!!

CJ45

Agreed.

Jumble

They do look young here, but there music is timeless.

CJ45

They look really young, Irene. Have lots of their tapes.

Jumble

Thank you Iris, yes the conversation was varied as was the links to the music, but I liked that.☺

Jumble

I am so pleased you enjoyed you enjoyed it Robin. I too love the big band sound, as you say they "belt it out" .☺

irisriver

Delightful puzzle and conversation! Grins!♫☺♫

mackabroin

lol irene......one of my favs....I love the way they seemed to just "belt it out"....maybe that is where the saying comes from??
and I agree joe......never know where the chat is going to end up

wjl1015

Thank you so much Morris!! Great to be back :))

morris186

WELCOME BACK JOE!!!!!

wjl1015

No need to apologize Irene! You never know where a conversation will lead, and that's half the fun!!

Jumble

Sorry I have to finish off with just one more link Benny Goodman "SING SING SING"

mackabroin

racoonstar

I don't know why, but as I've been coming back to the puzzle to read the comments, I kept hearing this song in my head...so I just had to share!

https://youtu.be/m_muFwwTSMs

farrell

Thanks Morris! Loved that! So upbeat. Hope you're feeling better, my friend! ~ Lori

Irene...LOVED 'Singing in the Rain'. too! (The song, dancing AND the movie)..how'd we get here from "Queen" ? (love this site!) :)))) ~ Lori

Jumble

mackabroin

brightspark

Finally just posted my brightspark puzzles xx would not let me do it yesterday xx hugs to you all

nette10

I love the big band stuff too Morris! :o)

morris186

You must excuse my Midwestern US accent ☺☺☺

morris186

Sorry about that Irene. Poppy as in their pop rock era.
And I have to agree that Sinatra was not elevator music.
Some more Glen Miller. Love the Big Band stuff.

Jumble

@MusicManJoe

Jumble

Morris, sorry, I have been thinking about it all night, what is poppy music?

Jumble

Lori, there are so many fabulous Queen songs to choose, and Joe is the King of Music so I think this one is a great one for him. We Are the Champions (rather Joe is)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04854XqcfCY

Jumble

WOW!! Doing this is great fun and very musically educational. Now I know what elevator music is thanks to you Nette, Racoonstar, and no you are right Nette Frank is NOT elevator music.

racoonstar

If it's an instrumental rendition of one of his hits, then it might be 'elevator music'. :D

nette10

Frank Sinatra should never be considered 'elevator music'!

racoonstar

Jumble - "elevator music" - the boring instrumental music played in elevators and other public places. Sometimes referred to as Muzak, which is actually the name of a company that specialized in that type of music.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevator_music

farrell

I suppose "Another One Bites The Dust" would be inappropriate for wishing Joe a speedy recovery...so, I'll go with "I'm In Love With My Car" :))) Great Post Irene! ("Hi" to all....Get Well Soon Joe!) ~ Lori

nette10

I liked Queen..... must confess I loved 'Crazy little thing called love'! :o)

Jumble

That's a new one on me Willy, elevator music?

ladywil2

Freddy was a great singer.
Andy and Frank, I call elevator music

Jumble

It's funny how our taste changes through the years Brightspark, I was the same, though Andy Williams was a bit too smooth for me, I love Frank Sinatra music now.

brightspark

my mom (passed away 22 years ago)used to listen to andy williams and instrumentals and frank sinatra and all the oldies - but then i was way to young to really appreciate them --she would be so proud of me now - i listen to her kind of music too and enjoy it!!!♥♥♥

Jumble

Yes Ken, he posted a message yesterday, on this puzzle.

klocowolf

Just curious, has anyone heard how Joe is doing?

Jumble

Robin, I understand what you're saying, but you're as old as you feel. I love some of the Glenn Miller songs because my Dad played them. Here's one for you. Pennsylvania 6-5000
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXGQNm4EKoc

Jumble

Thanks Dave, I just hope he returns to us soon and is fit and well.

mackabroin

djp

Jumble

Excellent choice Racoonstar, I love a song that I can turn the volume up loud, and sing along, and this is one of them.

Jumble

Morris, I have never heard that song before, fantastic. Their harmonies are amazing, and Brian May, out of this world! Thank you for introducing me to this Morris.

Jumble

Thank you. Brightspark. How lucky were you to see them LIVE. I can imagine that will stay with you forever.

racoonstar
