I've always wanted to visit ME and NH. We stayed in the Burkshires and traveled around to NY, VT, CT and MS - what beautiful states. I'd love to go back (and to ME and NH) in the fall (my favorite season) and see all the beautiful colors!
I have to pass on some words of wisdom that my Grandfather shared with me one day when I said "when I retire" he said, DON'T WAIT TO DO THE THINGS THAT YOU WANT TO DO UNTIL YOU RETIRE - DO THEM WHILE YOU ARE HEALTHY AND FINANCIALLY ABLE - BECAUSE WHEN YOU RETIRE YOU MAY NOT HAVE EITHER!! BUT YOU will HAVE REGRETES! I've tried to live by that advise.
I spent the summer between my junior and senior years of college (summer '74) in Colorado, and regrettably haven't been back since. In the 4 months I was there, we hiked every weekend and my last summit was Long's Peak. Since then, I joined the Appalachian Mountain Club when I was living in the Boston area. I was relocated to ME in 11/87 and eventually became a trip leader for the AMC - leading day hikes in ME and NH. But yes, Colorado does have lots of beautiful places to explore - and I do hope to visit again someday, likely after I finally retire and have the time to travel again.
Well, Colorado certainly has a LOT of beautiful areas. Some only available by foot, other by 4-wheel drive. But for those a bit less adventurous there are still countless gorgeous areas to visit! (maybe I'm a bit biased. . . I grew up in Colorado) Hike17, When were you last in CO?
Not as familiar as I'd like to be - I did some hiking in Colorado back in the mid-70's, out of Fort Collins, with the Colorado Mountain Club. I lived in Greeley and Evans that summer, and it was actually my introduction to hiking! This is a spectacular picture - I sure wish I could visit and check out these mountains for myself.
