We call him Ferdinand Magellan Taisia. He was the Portuguese explorer who discovered the Philippines (named it Las Islas Filipinas) in honor of King Philip II of Spain. The first island they saw was Homonhon but they landed in Limasawa and held the first mass there.

Fernando de Magallanes, I know this person as a seafarer and explorer. On Wiki I have read more about his life and his connection with your coutry. Very interesting and admirable.

It is Taisia. We drove at night and we reached there early morning...just to see the place. It is very historic. Limasawa is where Magellan and his companion priest first said mass in Philippine soil, way back the 1500s. limasawa island is right across and posted days before.
