Oh, yes, now I remember. In the ancient days, Nike did not have wings. Once Michael Jordan started wearing them, then flying became a daily routine.

Stillmanic

And the answer is................Nike

Nike, in Greek religion, the goddess of victory, daughter of the giant Pallas and of the infernal River Styx. Nike probably did not originally have a separate cult at Athens. As an attribute of both Athena, the goddess of wisdom, and the chief god, Zeus, Nike was represented in art as a small figure carried in the hand by those divinities. Athena Nike was always wingless; Nike alone was winged. She also appears carrying a palm branch, wreath, or Hermes staff as the messenger of victory. Nike is also portrayed erecting a trophy, or, frequently, hovering with outspread wings over the victor in a competition; for her functions referred to success not only in war but in all other undertakings. Indeed, Nike gradually came to be recognised as a sort of mediator of success between gods and men.

Max_Tooney

Ouch...

msbonne

That was Twisted, Sister

Max_Tooney

I suppose so, Mister (Mr.)...

msbonne

I assume she could go to the Aerosmith to have the wings repaired.

ringleader

True hippo but I don't have any of those. Just saw the answer mistakenly added to some anagrams.

hippo

@ringleader, you might stumble on the answer if you go out for a run...

Max_Tooney

Did she get grounded? Maybe she should have spread those broken wings and learn(ed) to fly again?

(Of course, if her west wing was broken, I'm not sure the east wing would be able to support her.)

msbonne

Yes, it was displayed there for awhile, but it was determined that Venus DeMilo's bust was a bust, so they tried to move it out of the west wing. What happened? It got busted.

Max_Tooney

I vaguely remember seeing Venus DeMilo's bust in the west wing. (She had quite a bust!)

Yet another relative of Icarus' sister.

msbonne

Yes, the wings are there to remind us of Venus and Mars (they are alright tonight).

manicpuzzler

It will be on the tip of your tongue before you know it :))

ringleader

I should know this but it won't come to my mind right now. Maybe before tomorrow but I won't hold my breath. lol Thanks, Bonnie.

manicpuzzler

Oh dear Max!!!

Well done, in advance BB :))

nanab

I think I know this one, and it's Greek mythology!

Max_Tooney

Really? I thought she had croaked.

manicpuzzler

I believe so Max. He did a song about her pet frogs :))

Max_Tooney

But the wings...are we ALSO to assume that Icarus' sister is related to Sir Paul McCartney?

manicpuzzler

꒰•‿•꒱꒰•‿•꒱꒰•‿•꒱LOL꒰•‿•꒱꒰•‿•꒱꒰•‿•꒱

msbonne

Yes, I believe they were a southern family. VERY close.

Max_Tooney

So, we can tell--by interpolation--that Stevie Miller is a distant relative of Icarus's sister?

msbonne

Right through the revolution...

(which is where the winged goddess comes into play).

Max_Tooney

(eagle eagle)

msbonne

Now you can fly like an eagle.

Max_Tooney

I knew there was something else besides the wind beneath my wings.

msbonne

Put another feather in your cap Max, that was good.

Max_Tooney

That melts my heart a little.

msbonne

Now you are just waxing poetic Max.

Max_Tooney

Icarus' little sister?

manicpuzzler

LOL !!! :)) :))

You could be right msb :))

msbonne

Hmm, wasn't she the one with wings?

hippo

The plug? I've heard it called a lot of things, but... hm...

PutterDutt

What ELSE was he holding???

hippo

I know it, I know it!!

I got there first!! :))

Another Darwin award….
A husband who frequently asked his wife to cover his nose and mouth with her nightie during lovemaking, decided to add a plastic bag to his repertoire of solo sex tools. Martin, 34, pulled a plastic bag over his head and used a vacuum cleaner to remove the air. He was found lying by the still-running vacuum cleaner, fully clothed, dead, still holding the plug.
