Why are you reporting this puzzle?

When you take night photos, be sure to PUT YOUR SETTINGS BACK so you can catch an eagle snag a bird out of mid air the next morning.
GRRRRR!!!!

Thank you for the photography lesson, great to remember it....your photos, both of them are great anyway....thank you Suzy, you were lucky!!!

I agree with COden Suzy, and at least you had your camera with you ready to take a photo. When I was on a safari holiday I discovered just why one guy in the group had 2 cameras with him when we encountered a large group of elephants, complete with very tiny babies crossing the track in front of us. The film ran out in my (one and only) camera, and by the time I had re-wound it and loaded another film the elephants had all but disappeared into the bush... I now ALWAYS take 2 cameras with me on holidays!

COden

Its still a good shot and you had the opportunity to watch the action, that's cool in itself....

bluebird42

So sorry it isn't a WOW, Suzy, but it's still a wow!

Gladstone

It makes a neat action photo.
Thanks, Suzy.

Nonetheless, that's an amazing photo, pumpkinhead. As a night photographer, will you be able to check out the Super Blue Blood Moon very early Wednesday am?

Photography 101, Suzy, and still it happens to all of us. ☺ But you have quite a nice documentary shot. ♥

PLG1958

Still a wonderful photo!

That was quite a catch anyway Suzy. Thanks for sharing your mishap, HUGS.

Every photographer has suffered that kind of problem. You think you may take some more pictures, so you don't reset it, then when you take it out next time, you expect it to be at its most common automatic setting, and don't check. Recently I noticed my camera was taking longer to focus, and focusing between shots - I discovered I'd left it on Close-Up the day before (which has a fixed magnification and continuous focus). Irritating - particularly when you take it out in a hurry for an unusual photo op!

Shian2

I've done that sort of thing, Suzy. :(

Becca48

You sure did! What a moment! And a copy can be photoshopped or edited for light and definition, right?

Dilubreuer

Auto Mode will make life easy, Suzy...lol!

pumpkinhead

Thank you, Becca.
Sigh. We were talking with some hikers (from MA) in Maine. All of a sudden the eagle swooped right in front of us. I was thrilled that I had my camera around my neck and started clicking like crazy. Although I noticed things weren't "feeling right" with the shots, I kept on clicking. Not until I was done did I take the time to check my camera. It was on funky settings from the night before when i was playing around with settings. Although disappointed, I still had a fine view of the moment thru the lens. :)

Anyway. . .WOW!
