Winter in the Cariboo. Looking north. These pictures would form a panorama if placed side by side.

I couldn't live without my mountains...snow-capped mountains line our North Shore and are home to three ski hills. My dad was born in the prairies and loved the fields and grain elevators but would have loved to live in the Kootenays...close to the Rocky Mountains. Mind you, you do have be careful in winter. :D

Impie

It looks very peaceful. I very much love the mountains. I've never been out of Europe, and for our holidays we always went south... to Spain and The Canary Islands. Those mountains and Vulcanos, just beautiful. Compared to that Holland is soo flat!:)

Thank you, Impie. This is one of the prettiest rivers...but about 2 hours south of here the river becomes quite aggressive and they do white water rafting in the summer. Faye :)

Beautiful view Gemstone.

Yes, we did stop at Coombs, and Cathedral Cove is one of the most magical places I've ever been! Unfortunately we were pressed for time and had to press on to Tofino...I wanted to stay in Cathedral Cove until I could hear the heartbeat of the trees...Heaven!!!
I live in Charlotte, NC which is 3-4 hours car travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the east, about 2 hrs. from the Blue Ridge Mtn. to the north, and 2 hrs. from the Smokies to the west. ;-)))

We've only been to Long Beach once but would love to go again. Did you stop at Goats on the Roof (Coombs) and Cathedral Grove? And Chesterman Beach...don't tell ANYONE about that place...sssssh!

You're on the east coast...rather than inland, right?

I can see why, Faye! I've taken 2 trips to Canada...to Calgary then driving as far as Jasper. The second trip was to Vancouver then to Victoria, and up the west coast to Tofino...both times I almost didn't come home!!! ;-)

Hi, Libby,
No...this is on the way to visit my sister. We live in Vancouver and they live a seven hour drive north of us...toward the middle of the province. This shot is about 2/3 the way there...and taken from a turn off on Highway 1. The highway, and a rail line on each side of the river follow the river in this stretch.
It is desert...very dry in the summer...not much snow in the winter...and can have extreme temperatures...although this year it's quite mild so far...only about minus 4-8 during the day.
This is my favourite part of the trip.
Faye :)))
