The Major Don Tenners .....http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=WT8SIJI7
And thank you too Aggie you little treasure :o)
What's this, Neville? You're beating me!
Tomorrow's DYR will be posted by Squishy - 0730 UK time (ish)Starlord is on holiday :)))
I don't have a google box at the bottom... maybe it's because Neville is down under in Oz?
Hey there you go Neville - opened up a whole new world now :o)
Thank you very very much for your patience and forbearance, lady c. i've never used that Google box up the top. Always go through Google on the bottom of the screen, punching in whatever I need. Have to do some experimenting now.......
Congratulations Neville! I was just six when my brother (who was sixteen and had spent all his pocket money, persuaded me to buy this record because Emil Ford was in the record shop signing the sleeves. I did, and Emil shook my hand and told me I was the youngest fan he'd met. He had a very lovely smile. We were surrounded by screaming teenagers. A very strong memory!
Woo hoo Neville - brilliant thanks. No don't be daft - you are not thick
Got it lady c, a puzzle within a puzzle. Gawd I'm "thick" - it's taken me weeks to catch on. Do forgive.
Neville if you got that, then that is the puzzle - click on the large solve puzzle button :)
Ah ha, lady c, I've been hitting the box on the bottom of the monitor which says Google. This time I hit the box at the top, and got Major's Ten Stars last night. But no puzzle.
Neville do you google at all ? It's the box at the top that has www in it
Sorry, lady c, I've been through this exercise before (unsuccessfully) with both starlord and the Major. I can get up to the Copy stage easily, but can't seem to be able to get as far as Paste - it just doesn't appear anywhere, no matter what I do.
No more a relic than me, Neville! Very well done, I thought I'd have you all going there for a while. And what's wrong with the banana boat song? Rod and his best friend used to sing it in the English Pub down in Canberra, complete with actions! Oh, yes... And congratulations, Major on the 10-star too. (Naughty boy!)
so was Emile Ford's backing group from the Czech Republic?
Yes Neville :)
Neville, here is a puzzle for you to do. To open it, this is what you do. Highlight the whole line with your cursor then right click your mouse and click Copy. Move your cursor to the box where you google and right click on Paste. The whole line should reappear. Press Enter and you should have the new puzzel. http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=87JWNFMI
Thanks for selecting Emile Ford, RetiredJan. Good one. Looking forward to your post tomorrow, squishy. By the way, my music goes back to The Yellow Rose of Texas, by Stan Freeburg, in 1955. My uncle had it on a 78RPM, and I used to go over his place each afternoon to play it over and over. Gawd, I'm a real "relic", aren't I?
Just wanted to say congratulations and bravo to Major Don who got 10 Stars yesterday with his DYR puzzle - well done Major :)))
I love that song - Day O .... no we won't be going back that far tomorrow as Squishy is posting :-)
The tune is not in my Billboard Bible, but gets a mention in my Oz one, where it got to No.1 in Feb.'60. My goodness, we are going back, aren't we. Next, we'll be back to Harry Belafonte, with The Banana Boat Song - Day O........
Hey Starlord - hope the holiday is going well :)
Another sunny day at the Belgian coast. A DYR is more difficult when you are at the other end. Have to admit I never heard of them :-)
Marvellous - I'm so pleased, bravo Neville. Thanks RJ for helping out today - good choice. Squishy will post DYR tomorrow. If anyone else would like to have a turn, please say so :-))
Marge & I both remembered the song What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For, but could not remember who sang it: we were both about 10-11 at the time.
Here you go - What do you want to make those eyes at me for ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbL530kanTU
Bravo Neville - not sure why I am naughty but I like it
I thought you had given up :)
Neville - what a star - yes that's right - brilliant work
Hi Lady C - naughty, Major!
How about Emile Ford & The Checkmates?
Well bad grammar or not major, he sold a million copies of the record
Good morning/evening everyone! Good luck Jigideans, I'm most interested to see how you all go with this one!
bad grammar though Lady C - ending a song title with a preposition
But you are having a rummage in your Gideons ?
Good morning lady c, squishy, MajorDon, good evening to our contributor RetiredJan, and hello to all other starlord fans. Haven't got a clue I'm afraid - can't help.
Good evening Neville :-)
The song in question went to number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1959 and stayed there for six weeks.
Yes Major it was first recorded in 1917 but not by this artist
Not raining here yet, ladyc, but no doubt it will arrive soon - black clouds overhead.
you don't say. Squishy - I hope you bought the re-release as the song was first recorded in 1917!
Thank you Squishy - have a great day dodging the rain :o)
I won't give the game away ladyc and RJ. I have an early doc's appointment this morning. But I'll check in later. ;-))
Sorry Ten Star Major Don - not Harry todayGood morning
Wow Squishy that's mega - and yes you have it right m'dear :-))
Good morning...in a way it has been posted by RJ too. Harry Belafonte?
Oh Morning all! Ladyc - you have found a picture of an artist who signed my copy of his most famous hit. It was the first single I ever bought with my pocket money. Wink wink!!
Good morning playmates. Today's DYR has been contributed by Retiredjan. Thank you RJ :)))
