I share your enjoyment of The Blues. You should certainly look up Tampa Red. He was known as the 'Guitar Wizard' for his playing and was one of the first to play a National resonator. He played variously as a solo artist, as part of a duo (with pianist Georgia Tom) and as an accompanist for the likes of Ma Rainey in the twenties through to Big Maceo and Big Bill Broonzy into the forties. For a few years in the thirties he also formed a band called the Chicago Five whilst still holding down a regular soloist spot at one or another Chicago Blues venue. He was a mentor to the likes of Broonzy and Big Joe Williams in their younger years. He cut more records than most (over 300 as a solo artist) and was a prolific songwriter.
I don't know much about Furry Lewis though I have him on disc and like his stuff. He was one of the first of the 'early' bluesmen to make a comeback in the blues revival of the sixties and one of the early ones to tour and record in Europe, though I was too young to appreciate him at the time.

Thanks, I think I'm going to have to look them up. I love the blues. I never saw anyone in person, but I still think I was lucky to see the PBS shows that featured some of the better known blues performers: Elizabeth Cotten, T Bone Walker, and BB King among others. My own collection of CDs includes Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, T Bone Walker, Memphis Slim, Albert Collins, and a bunch more.

Well, I could sit here and talk about the blues all day, but I gotta get some stuff done. Thank you for posting this!

Hi, Rodentraiser. Well Spotted - they are all as you say. The remaining two: between Alberta Hunter and Memphis Minnie is Tampa Red and, on the far right below Minnie, Furry Lewis.

I see Robert Johnson in the upper left corner, Blind Lemon Jefferson in the lower middle, Charlie Patton in the middle on the bottom, Blind Willie McTell to the right of Charlie, Bessie Smith in the left lower corner, Leroy Carr in the middle, Memphis Minnie in the upper right corner, Blind Blake is to the right of Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter at the top center, and I just can't figure out who those last two are - the man way to the lower right and the man between Memphis Minnie and Alberta Hunter.
