Joe just HAD to mess around with it earlier today, and set both the boys, especially Green, trembling, but once he cut THAT out, all had been okay. We just got home from "date night" at the pub and I'm freezing cold and looking forward to a 3 dog cuddle on the couch! :o)

You can always do what I did. Take the battery out of the annoying smoke detector and tell the dogs that it's now their job to alert me if there's a problem. I know it doesn't sound like a smart thing, but the human race has survived for a LOOOOONG time without smoke detectors.... and with heroic dogs. To me it's not worth torturing their delicate ears.

Surreal_Heidi

How are Green and Seal doing today? No more smoke detector alarms?

PutterDutt

True.....

Surreal_Heidi

Yeah, but if that's where a bird deposits the seed, it doesn't have much choice.

PutterDutt

What an odd place to grow.

Surreal_Heidi

Life finds a way.
It's kinda like how air plants and orchids survive. Rain water and dew stream down the branches and leaves to the roots. Nutrients are provided by bird droppings, dirt and other airborn stuff settling on the tree and being washed down to the roots with the rain water. The floors in that building are probably rotting, giving the root system a foothold.... but that's not an absolute necessity for a trees survival.
You can see by the dead branches, though, that it's not getting enough to grow on.

This one really makes you wonder, doesn't it? Thanks for the comment, RitaTen!

This is difficult to understand. Where does it absorb its vitality, it even blossoms. It has lived for some years in that forsaken sighted in a house window in the gap. If it had become a small seedlings of excellent conditions in the country, of course, it would not even live. Thanks for sharing, PutterDutt!

Rather amazing, isn't it?
