The poster art created by Steve Catron to promote 1960s and 70s live music concerts, club dates and events is among the most collectible rock art of the period. This poster, called "Berry Dropper" is one of his best known.

The Carousel Ballroom was originally known as the El Patio Ballroom and dates back to the late 20's. It was located on the upper floor of a car dealership. In 1968, Bill Graham left the Fillmore Auditorium on Geary Street to take over the Carousel Ballroom, renaming it the Fillmore West... told ya - I got lots more posters!

Chuck Berry - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9kgu71d81U (I'll know if you watched this...)

Grateful Dead - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDuZfdf4hFQ&list=PLxmCyo4jldzVhRRrNDShxozlphlKow7Ml&index=5

Curly Cooks Hurdy Gurdy Band - I couldn't find any recordings - or even info - on this band... I got a lot of Donovan, a lot about the hurdy-gurdy, even got some stuff on Curly Howard of the Three Stooges... I have this, don't know if it's who we're lookin' for, but at this point, I don't care: James Curly Cooke is also referred to as just Curly Cooke, is a guitar player who worked with Steve Miller, Jerry Garcia, and Boz Skaggs. 'cept there's a difference between a guitar and a hurdy-gurdy... that's it. Go listen to Chuck Berry again - that's funny stuff.

I wouldn't try frying bacon and fries in a hot air balloon, John - apart from blowing you both up, it may make your hair frizzy!
mpp this character looks like a more genteel but just as creepy Monty Burns - not the kind of person you want to go ballooning with, or anything in fact. Enjoyed its creepiness - onto the next (❀ᴗ❀)

Westley you have to be kidding, drug free ?

I revisited this poster today because it finally hit me. I've seen this poster before at professional football games. This was a poster promoting a "drug free" football league showing an NFL player being tested for drugs... I didn't know HGH made your pee turn blue. It's kinda pretty in a sick sort of way...

Man... was I off base with this one! I thought it was a poster advertising the blessed arrival of '?' (not to be confused with '?' and the Mysterians') outside of Roswell, New Mexico in mid 1947. '?' later changed his name to Swamp Gas and the Weather Balloons

And while we are on the subject of weather balloons...

"Would you like to ride in my old weather balloon
Would you like French fries in my old weather balloon
We could float among the power lines, you and I
And we can fry, we can fry

Up, up and away
My old weather, my old weather balloon

The world's a creepy place in my old weather balloon
Fry bacon by the case in my old weather balloon
We can bang a gong and get it wrong and eat a pie
We'll have fat thighs, and ham on rye

Up, up and away
My beautiful, my old weather balloon..."

Promise? I liked it... but when I blinked it was gone and I thought I was having a stroke... that's when you smell toast, right?
