Thistles are indeed ideal for dried flower arrangements, especially this one: Eryngium bourgatii. Thanks for the info about the wool carding, I didn't know that.
@Jaklien How lovely. These thistles are known worldwide. I harvested some down near our former lake house, bleached them to a straw color and have them as accents in an arrangement in our foyer. In "olden times" our colonists used them to card wool for spinning.
