In those days the boats would have sails, it was quite a busy harbour near us, must have been a great sight. Seems like a good neighbourhood for a TV series but I only watch the news these days, and am rapidly going off that
That would be a great idea - just sit in the front room to watch for boats rather than out in the elements. In the pic there seem to be a few gardens too and isn't it where the Boston Legal lads have their apartment with a large balcony?
in part of Maryport near us there are houses built up on the heights facing the sea with viewing rooms, these were built for ship Captains so the family could keep an eye out for their boat. I see a lot of these houses have flat roofs, maybe that's what they were for, seems they overlook the river basin
Hi Joyce and Anne, such a lot of big fine houses all in rows yet all so different. I wonder what kind of people they were built for. they would be quite expensive
Great to see buildings like these - what makes them unique to an area - surroundings - special features. It is a treat when someone comes from afar and wouldn't know what homes looked like in an area. Thanks.
I love this picture & wish I had a copy of it on my wall. You might not think so because it's all buildings with a smattering of trees but it's wonderful to walk those streets and admire all those homes.
Hi Joyce, I found it hard too, 13 minutes but there is something nice about the picture
WOW ~ Great puzzle (bit of a challenge for me) and great surprise!!! Fantastic picture of the Back Bay!!! Very nice & exclusive area. Those buildings are all beautiful. Many thanks June!! :)))(time, 7:50)
