Petra, Jordánsko ...............
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
........... The city of Petra gained its name according to the Latin word of Petrae which in translation means rock.
Petra Jordanska was founded in the 6th century bc. for the Nabatean civilizations who were skilled builders, worked metal and were also excellent traders. The creation of Petra in the Jordan was not accidental and the city became a link between important trade routes between China, India, South Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome.
The city of Petra is half-built and half-carved into the rock of the Mount Hor Mountains. Perhaps that is why Petra says that her half is as old as time alone. Linking the architecture of the Eastern tradition with the Helenistic architecture of the city of Petra makes it a unique national monument, and this city was recognized in 2007 as 7 World Divas.
Petra is carved into a mountain range that divides the Jordanian border and Israele, and this has led to many disputes over her property. Petra is also known for its sophisticated water system, which has been operating for 300 years BC. The principle was based on catching water from rains into tanks and then into the clay pipes that led the city.
A major change to Petra came when Rome, headed by General Trajan, broke into the city. It happened in 106 AD and that day Petra Jordanska became the Roman province. It made the city of Petra the administrative center of the Roman Empire.
The destruction of Peter was two earthquakes, and in 336 when half of the destroyed city was restored, and in 551 AD there were only ruins left of Petra.
Then the city fell into the hands of the Byzantine Empire, and after the 12th century it was completely forgotten. It was discovered by the Swiss traveler Johann Ludwig Burckhardt who found it in 1812. It became a great event, and the Western world wanted to know more. Petra, however, has remained a difficult place because of its location in Arabian territory, so many secrets have been uncovered only after the war ..........
