I also think of you a lot, whatnauts, especially on your birthdays. Somehow that stuck in my head. Thought of you a bunch of times yesterday but didn't make it online and wish you a happy birthday. Still hoping you'll get back here sometime :)

foxymoron

And the same from me, whattie ♥ ♥

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, whatnauts. ♥

Thinking of you, too, Whatnauts.  (*ᴗ*)

foxymoron

Great minds apparently think alike as I was thinking of you too, whattie.

Hoping all is well with you. Chrissie ♥ ♥

Hello, whatnauts. Just in case you wander by on Jigidi. I have missed you. Posted a pyramids puzzle today with a lot of the royal colors in it and thought of you. Hugs.

A pleasure to hear from you, whattie. If I could cartwheel I'd do one for you! Nine months of the hustle and bustle is enough to stress anyone but the end is in sight and that makes a huge difference. So it takes a while and you'll still be driving BUT it's not forever! You can allow yourself to relax in mind if not in body yet. I understand being a home-body - so am I :-) Driving I don't mind. I'm happy to do it Down Under but these crazy people drive on the wrong side of the road!
Waiting for the cool down here. September so far has been hotter than August but we'll be down to low 70s next week. Been pretty muggy so that hasn't helped matters. Too hot to do art and crafts so we've been reading a lot of books.

Perceptive guess; I don't think it was the weather that caused the return home either.

We'all are fine :-)))) (hope not to offend Suthun' speakers with that!) Hope y'alls are too (there I go again - I'll never get it right!) Thanks for squeezing out time to write ;-))

whatnauts

I guess I can't blame someone for not making it through a Winnipeg winter, although I would guess it wasn't the weather that did her in!! But no doubt it wouldn't help. LOL

Good news, Mom is now looking for an Assisted Living place and her husband has improved enough to go with her. Yippee. I'm doing cartwheels (well, I would if i could). I need to calm myself down a little because I don't know how long it will take, but the news has greatly improved my spirits, as I will admit, the week in-week out driving is getting to me. I'm not a big fan of driving and I'm a home-body, so nine months of this has started to get to me.

Our days are starting to cool and autumn is around the corner.

I you all (y'all) are fine :))))))

foxymoron

Extra good to hear from you, dear whattie. We learn something new every day - like notifications don't stick around forever - which is a good thing! Pleased to know you can at least check in monthly and bookmark - the bookmarks stick around as so many of us can confirm :-)

Granddaughter didn't make it through winter therefore no visit with us in January. I don't know for sure what happened but she is back home in Oz minus boyfriend. Life goes on...

Yes, we have recovered! We do enjoy a quiet life. We've made some polymer clay pens and pendants and Sally is planning on a pastel painting soon. She has a new easel to christen! Other than that it's pottering in the yard and watering the veggies and plants.

Don't like the sound of incredibly hot summer (too much like Oz!). Survive the Climate Medal in the mail soon :-)

@JiggyBelle wanna do - love it :-)))

JiggyBelle

"Wanna Do" time, here we come!!
(*ᴗ*)

whatnauts

Responsibilities....yes, that says everything. I think I need try to make more effort to get here. Solving puzzles is definitely relaxing. I hope you are able to find more 'wanna do' time. What a lovely phrase that is.

JiggyBelle

A lot's been going on for you! Too much "gotta do" stuff and not enough "wanna do" stuff. Hope things are settling down for you!
I've been on less and less myself. Responsibilities have mostly taken over my life. But, I do manage to get here....usually to wind down.

p.s. my mom had a patchwork fur cape with armholes. As a chid, I thought it was gorgeous and always visualized it as guinea pig fur. Oh, the way we were!

whatnauts

Well, it's taking awhile for things to settle down. Isn't that always the way?? LOL

While I did have quite a few notifications, they only went back for about a month, so I've had to check each of my 'followed users' individually. I've tried to check in monthly for a few minutes so I can more easily bookmark some puzzles. Don't know when I could possibly solve them all, but they are there waiting for me and the thought of not bookmarking them for future possible solving is too much to bear. LOL

How did your grandaughter do with her first Winnipeg winter? I seem to recall it was a cold one, but with not as much snow as usual (after all this time, the winters seem to run into one another). We are having an incredibly hot summer, so hopefully she likes hot weather.

Likely your company has now left and you and SMor have had time to recuperate from all your 'touristing' and are busy with crafting. Take care.

foxymoron

whattie, thanks for setting our minds at rest. Your life has been decidedly busy so it's no wonder your Jididi time has been reduced. Very pleased to know it's settled down but oh boy, you're going to be in shock when you see the number of notifications :-) We've had family visiting from Down Under and limited jigidi time here so I feel your "pain" :-)

Yowza wowza, it left! Let's hope for a long cool Spring, short Summertime, mild Autumn and light s**w levels Winter (yes, it does sound crazy, amiga!)

We're both peachy ducky, thanks but as our beloved Libby said, "slap wore out" playing tourists!

So pleased to hear from you!

whatnauts

foxy, thanks for your concern. I'm fine, however back in December my Mom's husband took ill and shuttling my Mom back and forth to the hospital and now the nursing home has severely cut into my 'leisure time'! Things have recently settled down somewhat, so I'm hoping to return to Jigidi in the next few weeks, once I have gotten caught up on some things around the house.

I'm happy to report the s**w has finally left, although we've had a cool spring :))))) But that works for me since it delays the hot weather which I probably hate more than the s**w. I know, that sounds crazy.

I hope you and SMor are wonderful, and again, thanks for your concern :))))))))))))))))))))))))))

luckybie

Well you didn't have to get back, but glad you did. I hope that your project is coming along well and you can get back to being more comfortable. ◕‿◕

foxymoron

Everything OK, whattie? Just busy or maybe still s***ed in? :-)

Miss seeing you around.

whatnauts

luckybie, it's been a long slog cleaning out the house, particularly since the relative is out of town. Also, there wasn't a big hurry to dispose of the house, and therefore contents. We did the easy things first and disposing of the fur was one of the last things we did. I don't know anything about fur coats, but I would imagine there is different qualities of beaver. It's also possible the picture doesn't accurately depict the pelts. I debated on whether or not to post the answer, but it only seemed fair, particularly since the notification feature is so handy.

luckybie

Whatnauts, I had to chuckle that this came around again after about 7 months! Thank you for getting the answer to what fur it is...I did want to know and the odd thing was, my guess was wrong... and I did have a beaver coat about this style back in the 50's and didn't recognize it as such; this one seems to have more nap than mine did. 。◕‿◕。

whatnauts

It's been a while, but the coat was recently taken to a furrier. For everyone who made a guess, the answer is Beaver.

whatnauts

Wow, Sue, that's a very cool story. We are still trying to figure out what to do with this coat. My aunt didn't want anyone wearing her clothes after she passed. Apparently there are some who do crafts with items like this, so who knows.

I hope you have a wonderful trip. I've decided I need another couple of weeks away from Jigidi to get everything finished, so hopefully you'll be seeing my comments on your puzzles near the end of the month!

sue1

Looking forward to you being back soon. I'll be gone for part of June and most of July, but will be trying to post now and then.

sue1

I have an old fur stole of my Mother's, probably nearly a century old by now. One tiny torn seam, but it is still gorgeous. My Granddaughter wore it for some of her wedding photos, sort of a family link to my Mom. She's been gone a long time now, we used to take 4 generation photos, so the stole was the "stand in" for my Mom at the wedding.

Fruttel1

Hi Boston Jack, I'm old enough to have known BB in her young years, but I bet I was an animal-protector even before shé was. ;)
I also bet you've never seen in what way they harvest the fur, otherwise you would be a bit less denigrating (or so I hope) about "people like me". ;)
"Rant" over, have a good week everyone.

Fox?

beatlecarol

I wouldn't rule out lynx.

whatnauts

Hall_Monitor - I agree with you on the ivory. I feel the same way about the fur. No doubt someone would enjoy it. With the cold weather where I live, I'd be tempted to take it myself, but it doesn't fit. Also, I don't believe there is a furrier in the town the coat is located, but I will check.

suemarie

I think Hall_Monitor meant Fruttel1, not you.

whatnauts

Thanks everyone for your comments. I thought I might get some flak as well. This coat is quite old - it was purchased long before animal rights became much of an issue, but is still in good shape. Unfortunately, those persons who were around when the coat was purchased are no longer with us to tell us what animal pelts these are. Beaver was also suggested by some members of the family.

Fruttel1

I bet the animals who initially wore it knew.

Could be chinchilla. My parents used to raise them and it looks very similar. Fur is very soft and quite long...

Raccoon?

ES KÖNNTE KANINCHEN SEIN ODER NUTRIA SEIN SCHLECHT ZU SAGEN WENN ES NICHT DIREKT VOR EINEM IST.

luckybie

in the 1930's and 1940's muskrat was popular, possibly that, if the coat had much wear. I remember relatives wearing muskrat. Googled it, I saw one quite similar. Possibly rabbit of the large variety
