Why are you reporting this puzzle?

A model ship is never finished......one simply stops working on it. Here is proof. I purchased this as a kit about thirty years ago. I have always been interested in ships that were built during the conversion from sail to steam. About fifteen years ago I started building it. Five years later I ran out of steam ! Now it is full of dust and I am trying to get up enough energy to fully rig the three masts, repair some minor damages, and dust and clean it up. In the meantime, I like to look at it the way it is.

Thanks Don. The Constitution would not be one to start on, I have had a kit of the Cutty Sark and the USS Alabama for 20 years and never started. I just get more enthusiasm for scratch building.

Beautiful work - and you have precisely summed up why I never undertook ship modeling! I acquired an extensive book collection about the Age of Sail, and have been tempted by kits of the Constitution, which sat a few miles from me for 45 years - but I know exactly how it will go...or not go. :-)

That is OK. Nice evening, Ella

Lyella: My apologies for misspelling your name. The automatic spellchecker changed it and I didn’t catch it.
Slartibartfast: Thank you. I am my toughest critic. On several occasions I took a small chisel ant took out several planks that didn’t fit quite right. Yes, I am satisfied with it so far.

Thank you a lot. 64 is lovely, but not more. All pieces are too small on the screen then, I am not able to see the shape of them. You are very kind, thank you. And I am very glad you do not paint your ships. Wood is wood. It do not need any painting. Have a nice day.

Excellent workmanship. You must be well pleased with the results so far.

I fully understand your comments. I built a 1:47 scale model of a 1749 3-master, which took me nearly a year to complete, then another 6 months to rig! I started another, much smaller, model about three years ago, and it still sits there, just the basic hull, waiting for my enthusism to return.

Thanks for posting, and I hope you get around to finishing the ship soon.

oldwye

Thank you so much, Luella. I have previously posted pictures of some of my other woodworking projects. If you would like me to post them in a different size, let me know.

lyella

I don´t understand ships at all, but this is wonderful. I like it very much and thank you that you post your ship here and I could see and solve it. I send you many nice greetings.
