not sure what this boa was doing at the wildlife refuge. possibly one of the many snakes released by a thoughtless owner when it got big enough to scare him.

jacki2

or slugs either, karen.

jacki2

what kind do you have, patti? i expect not a lot of snakes would thrive in your cold.

Jacki2 - I understand about snake and spider phobias. I have a terrible phobia of cockroaches. I know that snakes and spiders have a good impact on the environment, but I can't for the life of me think of one for cockroaches.

Pumpkinhead - yes, he's is safe now. Hopefully the reserve can release him back into the environment to do what he's born to do. :)

pumpkinhead

At least he's in a safe place now.

Nice to see! I only see about one or two snakes a year around here.

Hi, Jacki2, pleasure to meet you, you can call me scorpio or Karen. :) I've heard of what's going on down in Florida. The snakes have not only come from irresponsible owners, but from pet shops that were wiped out during hurricanes. Makes me sick, too. I wish there were a way for them to be trapped instead of hunted down for a bounty. I'll repost the horse pics for you. Did you see the pic of Six? I'll repost that one, too. :) Again, nice to meet you. I don't get to meet other "snake fans" very often. :)

i know sis. they aren't for everyone. i grew up with them. there were both rattlesnakes and copperheads in my area. and i ran all over the woods and fields and never got bitten. i do have the other common fear-spiders.i've done everything i can to rid myself of it. even read charlotte's web 3 times but i still can barely make myself touch a picture of a snake.

jacki2

i am too, scorpio (okay to call you that?) i don't know what type of boa; it was one of the few things actually tagged. and it drives me nuts too. i don't if you are aware of it, but florida has been losing a lot of it's natural wildlife to big snakes that have been released there by their irresponsible owners and now they are encouraging hunters to kill the snakes. makes me sick. btw i just had a peek at your profile. love those horses and wouldn't mind doing one in the 45-60 piece range. thanks for your visit and comments.

jacki2

i agree ardy. a lovely snake. you're welcome.

OMG...am the exact opposite of scorpiostinger Sis...The mere thought of them scares me, how much more the sight of them.

scorpiostinger

I'm a huge fan of snakes, and am "mom" to my ball python "Six". What species of boa is this? I've never seen one with stripes like a garter snake. Very pretty. I've fostered snakes for my local animal shelter, and it drives me nuts when people don't do their research before purchasing a pet.

The patterns on snake's skin are very interesting. Thanks, Jacki. Glad you included this one.
