The South Florida Museum is deeply saddened to share the news that our beloved Snooty has died. Snooty’s death was a heartbreaking accident and the circumstances are being investigated so we can be sure we know the full details of what happened. Our current rehab manatees - Randall, Gale and Baca - are all fine. We know that our community and Snooty fans around the world share our grief. We will keep you updated as memorial plans develop.

well I hope nothing else happens under her watch otherwise she will definitely be replaced...let us hope Virginia sets her straight...and does good things with all the animals in this Beautiful Aquatic Museum...please keep me informed....thanks Pam...big hugs...kathleen

Thanks for Snooty puzzle. I still feel so sad when I think about what happened to Snooty. The facility has recently hired a new director, Virginia Edmonds, a very experienced manatee rehabber/keeper from Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo.

I know....it hit me real hard....never met him...but everyone said he acted like a friendly human....sweet as could be....but this kind of thing should never have happened....they are still investigating how this hatch at the bottom of the tank got loose...thanks for your comment pasta....kathleen

thank for your condolences Sunpuppy and Connie...I am so sad...even though I never met Snooty...I feel like he is a part of my Florida Heritage and History...he sure is going to be missed...he was well liked and loved...now he is in Heaven with God and with all his other friends and relatives human and non human...kathleen

we are all saddened by his sudden death...he will be missed by all who met and interacted with him and all who had heard and read about him....he has become an icon for the tampa bay area...
