What a great idea, Lin. Wrap the old toys and they are probably happier with them than with a new one. Problem is, Boomer's old ones are just about 'gone' when I finally introduce a new one. Ha! Thanks for stopping by and sharing with me. I love to talk about dogs! : )
It still amazes me, some people just don't get it; no clue. A lot of dogs are smarter than a few of the people I've encountered! ; ) Just like your Boomer - talk to them and they come to understand. I've recently stopped buying new toys for my Kristi - started turning them down flat, preferring her old raunchy ones! So on her birthday and Christmas I just wrap an oldie-but-goodie, she opens it and...thanks me. Nice chatting w/a fellow animal lover, Dottie. ; )
Oh Lin, how sweet and how intelligent they are. Boomer amazes me every time he responds to me...like "go find your toy" and he runs looking for it and brings it back. His favorite is a piece of an old rope toy that looks pitiful but he loves it. So glad it evoked sweet memories. Dogs do that, don't they? I can't pass up a picture of a dog without oohing and aahing! They all have their special ways.
Hopefully...long story/short. My Mom's final companion was a HUGE Rottweiler/German Shepard mix. From the get-go (starting in puppyhood) Boots sensed my mother's every need and taught HERSELF to fetch house slippers, etc! My mother, a VERY light sleeper, often awoke to find Boots had carefully eased herself into bed right beside her; undetected 'til morn! ; ) Thank you, Dottie - this evoked a lot of sweet, sweet memories. Lin
