This was my Nans daily job selling milk in Dalston / Stoke Newington area London, these were very poor areas of London, now very sort after. Nan lived and my mum was born in Hawkesley Rd near Clissold Park S/Newington. My mum thinks that nan was about 16/18 years old when the picture was taken circa 1916. My mum lived in Hawkesley Rd until she was evacuated aged 14 during ww2, Nan was relocated as well to Chingford and they never went back to Hawkesley Rd.

@worbs What a wonderful photo. My dad was in France in WWII and recounted having seen a lady, dressed in faded glory and seated in a small cart pulled by a goat. She was selling tripe from a container in the cart with her. Street vendors added much to the atmosphere in the past.

What a great photo! Was she selling it, or giving it away to children for a charity, or?? Tell us more!
