These kaleidos are made from macro photographs of butterfly wing scales. I made them in December last year, after Rob (robryan) posted some photos, leading me to explore. They are the most amazingly beautiful things. Thanks to Rob for providing the inspiration!!

You can see some examples of photographs of them here:

I use freely available images and a variety of programs to make my kaleidoscopes, colour the backgrounds and assemble them into a collage. All of which takes around 2 hours.

It gives me immense pleasure making them, and I hope it gives you pleasure solving them. :-)

LOL Gail! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed it, and that you have a fave! Yipee!! :)))

Oh, and I hear ya sister on the "catching up". I feel like I'm perpetually doing that. But never quite getting there. Kind of like those dreams you have, where you're running but never quite reaching your destination...........

I see a cocoon!!! And a caterpillar!!! And a great puzzle!!! I love the bottom left the most. Thanks, Kirsten. Just getting caught up, since I didn't solve any puzzles last night.

Awww. What a sweet thing to say, Deborah. And I have to tell you that I thought of you when I selected that top middle. I was sure that you would love it. So I'm glad to hear that you do. :)))

Ah. I should have realised, Katie. You're so canny!!! :)))

Oh, and you my love, can have as many faves as you want!! :)))

Beautiful as always, Kirsten. I think I'l fly away with the top middle...It gives me wings! :)))

Yes, the top right certainly "floats my boat" with the lovely nature colors! LOL! But I saw that it was already named as a favorite so I knew I would see it again as a single. But go ahead and add my name to the list of faves for that one! I may as well be greedy with four faves!!! :>)

Thanks Katie! I wondered if the top right would "float your boat" too! Those greens just smack of nature!! LOL

These are gorgeous! My faves are bottom right, middle and bottom left. Thanks Kirsten! :>)

Excellent choices, Edie! They're my faves too. And your weather sounds PERFECT to me!! Enjoy. And I hope the hungry hordes are appreciative!! :)))

First thing I thought of was that some of these would make lovely bows for you Christmas or any gift. I agree that it's hard to pick faves today but I'll go with the top row left and right. Our weather has returned to somewhat normal with cool mornings and warmish days. Thanks for my morning starter, off to the hungry masses :-)))

It's a pleasure John. It makes me very happy that you like them so much. And enjoy the photos at the link. They are truly amazing!! :)))

Thank you for another of your wonderful Collage's of Kaleidoscopes John :~)) ps will check out the link thanks again

You don't have to adopt it, Barb! I know it doesn't have the same sheen as the others. I just didn't have another dark blue that worked with this grouping. :)))

For some reason, that bottom blue doesn't quite have the shine that the others do but I do think it's a beauty and what the heck, I'll make that my third fave, Kirsten. :-))))

This is my third collage, Barb. I loved them so much, that I posted two collages in a row!! One in bold, rich colours, and the other in soft. Sorry the blue is a bit dull for you. But glad to hear that you found a fave. :)))

Morning Ardy! I wanted to put Rob's links here again, but the puzzles have been deleted. So I added a link that takes you to loads of the beautiful photos. See you on the next one. And I've answered your email too! :)))

I remember you posting another set, last December (from your comment). They certainly make lovely kaleidos. I think the centre yellow is my favourite today. Would probably have chosen the bottom row middle blue if it had been just a little brighter. But they are all beautiful. Thanks, Kirsten. :-)

Good evening, Kirsten. I remember the ones you first posted and following the links you gave us then. These are just as beautiful. I'm not sure I really have a favorite here but I am drawn to the bottom left, the top right and the top left. Oh dear, that middle right is calling to me too. OK I'll favor it too. Thanks, Kirsten. Lovely appetizer. I'm on to the next course. BTW I answered your email.
