Back when Frank Loyd Wright was still learning architecture, before he created his own known style, when he still signed his name Frank L. Wright, this is one of the houses he designed.

I googled the photo, Bob and from there started surfing around...eventually found a website about Wright when he was going by Frank L. Wright, and working for other companies. They had several early house photos that he designed before he came into his own style and his first one he did out on his own. He also designed some commercial buildings. I downloaded a couple more photos from the site but couldn't tell you how I exactly got there.

Oops, laughed my face off. :- )

Juba1010

I so appreciate you and all the other wonderful people I meet here. Loving the laughter. :-)

Lives follow the path they are bound to. That's pretty cool that your mom was doing that at that time. Thanks Judy.

Juba1010

Yes, Judy. Wright was an inspiration for my mom studying architecture in the late 1940s. Then she met my dad and marriage and family etc.

@dendro - where can I find more information about this house? Thanks!

dendro

He did have a tendency for flat roofs Juba, which could be a problem. (Judy..right?)

dendro

Thanks pasta. I saw about that phase of his life briefly in the documantary I saw about him, but thisis the first documented house 've actually seen. I have a photo of another house of his that is more transitional but still Victorian/turn of the century that I'll be listing soon.

dendro

It did change for sure Robin. I saw a documentary about him a couple of year ago, he was a pretty disturbed person starting in his childhood. His work was an escape from it.

Hi Paulette, if I look at the window above the front door style, the stonework around the entry, possibly the trim around the carpark, I can see the beginnings of his known style possibly creeping out. Especially the window above the front door.

dendro

Granny, you are indeed a true window non-cleaner if possible..☺☺☺ Me too.

I had no idea he designed Victorians either. I know his later buildings had leaky roofs. Thanks dendro.

Hi dendro, this is a beauty. Thanks for the info, I did not know that.☺☺

redina1

Very detailed. His style definitely changed over the years. :)

I never knew that Frank Lloyd Wright designed Victorians. The only one that I have ever seen is the "House on the Rock" and others. It's nice to know that he did other types as well. This one is really nice. This is the first Victorian that I've seen with a carport.

What a lovely old home. I love it , but.....I'd hate to do the windows !!
