Heather, there was one '54 Corvette that was entombed in a basement and when it came out it was a disaster.
fyreline, true on the other colors. My friend's car is Green. and not red, white, and blue. It is the Scrambler though. Not as exciting as the Red, White, and Blue models.
Same thing for NOS parts. I have a whole where-house full and they are not all that great as made out to be. When I pull parts, often they don't fit right. Making me feel like they were put into the do not sell pile just because of that. Maybe?
And, often, ,,,, rare parts are the ones no body every wanted in the first place.... same for rare cars... ,,, reason they are rare is because they didn't sell in the first place.

It really isn't good for a car to be left idle for such long periods. They need to be driven, to keep everything lubricated and working properly. Typically, cars that have been sitting for twenty years or more need a complete restoration. Some folks think that buying a car and immediately putting it into storage will keep it pristine, but that just isn't so. More on topic - I know that the AMC Rebel Machine was available from the factory in other colors than the red, white & blue scheme. I have never seen an AMC SC/Rambler in any other color than red, white & blue - although the way the colors and stripes were applied did change in later years. Was this car ever available in "standard" colors from the factory?

Oh no kidding. we had a neighbour that had a 1954 Corvette, just delivered and parked. It has 15 miles on the odometer. I don't get it.

I know a man that has one in his garage that he has never driven since he brought it home from the dealer new. I guess he is just saving it. He also has an Avanti brand new in his garage too. He said he loves it and is going to keep it... I don't think he has ever driven it since new. I would just have to drive it.

What a great car!

thanks to fyreline and camaro72stroker,
yes, these were right off of the dealers showroom floor, able to do the quarter mile in under 15 seconds. That's faster than my '67 Chevrolet SS 396 that would only do the quarter in 15 seconds.

Friend of mine had one of these needed redone so he had the interior done black roll and tuck, painted it a beautiful large metallic Jade green. It looked real good, 390, 4 speed

In spite of their over-the-top paint scheme, these little cars were surprisingly quick.
