LOL here at the mention of Okeefenokee... the one here is called The Big Swamp... doesn't have quite the same impact, does it! It's mostly bird life in the swamp; the water critters are harder to see but they must be there as the birds eat them. No 'gators! We're so used to having parrots in the garden we don't think twice about it. The parrots, lorikeets, galahs etc in the big aviary at the swamp are local and from other areas of the country. Some have incredibly bright plumages - we'll take you there when you come to visit! Then we'll check out the Jekyll marsh with you :-)
How totally cool is that! On the way to our honeymoon destination, Jim and I stopped at the Okeefenokee Swamp, rented a canoe and paddled, for quite some time, into it and back. What a fascinating place it was! So different from the glorious marsh which is across the street from our house on Jekyll. Your swamp would be so exciting. I can only imagine the wildlife, most of which I probably have never seen. The fact that you have parrots flying freely is so hard to imagine!
We live not far away from said swamp! We can walk there easily. There's a wildlife refuge with walk through aviary, lots of kangaroos and wallabies free range in their own paddock where you can stop and feed them. There are boardwalks over the swamp and spots where you can sit quietly and see all manner of birdlife. We're going there next week for another visit :-)
LOL! phunny!! I'm glad you found it to be Awesomes....most welcome, dearest. I've been exploring Bunbury via Google Earth..... one really cool looking enormous swamp you've got there! Have you explored it?
