I'm pretty sure he wasn't, as I'm doing the presentation of the PBCB or some 25 years now. Simulatneously in Dutch and in English. I surely would have known it. :-)
Oh wow, thanks for sharing this great story, Cevas. Truly amazing. As you know, Sean is a Scot. At some 3 miles from here, we have a yearly PBCB (Pipe Band Championship Belgium). One year it was said that Sean Connery was going to be there, but incognito... He never showed up, even though he is a great fan op pipes and pipebands.
A good friend of mine almost made a dinner for Sean Connery. Back in the 80s he was in Vancouver and wanted to play golf. So he went to a local golf course and three members happily joined him for a game. My friend's husband was one of the men. He invited him to his house for dinner. Mr. Connery asked if it would be an inconvenience to his wife. My friend's husband called her and asked if she she could accommodate a guest for dinner. She said, yes, that was fine. Then he told her it was Sean Connery. She said, Yeah, right!! Her husband convinced her that it was true and she prepared the meal. For some reason he didn't go to their house for dinner after all but he sent her a big bouquet of flowers and a note to thank her. The golf club has pictures of him so it is a true story.
Absolutely the best Bond ever! And wonderfully believable even as a Russian submarine captain with a Scottish burr! (Hunt for Red October)! One of my favorite actors, and gorgeous...!
