"What is your personal view of the artworks, for instance in terms of media, colors, composition?

I try to capture what I see, and the world I'm seeing is simply beautiful. I don't change anything about my object. That is exactly what I see. I was looking for more words to answer the question, but I was clearly struggling finding them. Instead, I borrow Cezanne's statement; Painting from nature is not copying the object, it is realizing one's sensations."

Maybe you need to adopt the caterpillars and get them inside the house for the metamorphosis. It takes a lot of tending, but is worth the effort.

So far my butterfly project is in full tilt. Five more to go to emerge from their chrysalises and I'll be finished. If they make it, it'll be 20 launched. So far, a few caterpillars and two butterflies didn't survive for sundry reasons. Kinda sad, but my successes cheer me.

I just want to add that I have different kinds of milkweed in my garden this year, but I haven't seen a single butterfly emerge. Something happens to to the chrysalises that makes them not develop fully...I do blame environmental issues. I am trying to do what I can, but I am rather worried about the monarchs at this point.

Thanks so much, Neville, for this explanation. I found myself scratching my head. Now I can stop.

Lucky you, Judy and Mike to have so many butterflies in your gardens. I have nine monarch caterpillars in containers with milkweed in the house. Four others have already turned into their chrysalises. Another week and I should start seeing butterflies emerge, ready to take off for Mexico. :-)

Willow, if you have space in your yard, you could collect seed pods from milkweed by the side of the road and plant the seeds.

Makes me happy to hear your news.

Hope not. I have a little butterfly garden with lots of interested monarchs and other beauties.

Love this one. Thank you. In the near future, paintings may be all we will have of this beautiful creature. Climate warming and wiping out their milkweed is destroying them.
