Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Victor Moscoso designed this for concerts at The Avalon February 3 and 4, 1967. I think it was made to be viewed under a black light... could be wrong, but that Day-Glo Orange is usually a dead giveaway.

The bands that played were Country Joe and the Fish, Kaleidoscope, and Sparrow. Now, I used to try to give you clips from each band that appeared, but when I had to start listening to jug bands, "something's gotta change", I said to myself. I got no argument, so... something's gotta change. I'm really just sayin' that because I've been busy today and I was never much of a Country Joe fan. I took a stab at Kaleidoscope, but there's a British group with the same name around the same time, and I just don't wanna be bothered. If we can't be honest with each other by now, well, I can continue to lie...

Sparrow, if you paid attention, was pre-Steppenwolf John Kay. There were, and are, several groups named Sparrow or some version of that, but I got ya on the right track here.

Of note, is the poster design - five circles, each surrounded by five small orange stars (except the center which has that squiggle to the left, but then I don't have a conspiracy), and Victor Moscoso's name has five syllables... spooky, huh? I know, it's not, I just don't have anything else...

I am getting a bit scared. Thinking about dropping my tape measures and heading back to the sanctuary of my tree.

Listen to me.... LISTEN TO ME!! It's another government coverup! History revisionists have altered the creation of Day 5 - It is no longer about Day 5 when God "created every living creature of the seas and every winged bird". The new improved Day Five says congress created Spam buffets, Spam salad bars and Spam enhancers* on day five. Remember what the fifth born son of Chicken Little, the prophet known as Chicken Littler predicted..."The sky is falling, the sky is falling". We now have five days to get our lives in order. Five days until Jigidiland suffers a power surge that will last 40 days and 40 nights... and every circuit board and colored electrical wire will be destroyed...

*Spam enhancer - lard retrieved from the business end of dead skunk left in the sun for a minimum of 5 days)

True, BUT, if there is more than one five, and clearly, there are many of them, it is FIVES. Five letters. Creepy, no?

RIGHT??!!!?? Chet Helms, founder of Family Dog, had 5 letters in his last name... but the word 'five' is only 4 letters! My head will explode...

Your mystical numerology is clearly prophetic. It turns out that ex-planet Pluto has five moons, all of them discovered after 1978, which rotate and orbit very irregularly:
Astronomers Describe the Chaotic Dance of Pluto’s Moons,

But how did The Family Dog predict that in 1967? Hmmm...

msbonne

I cannot do 5s. That number scares me. Perhaps that is why I am a bit out of sync with the world.

I think you are onto something mpp. I spent most of the day researching and came across some startling revelations. I believe we are in the middle of a massive coverup. Did you know when Goldilocks burglarized the three bears home there was actually 5 bears living in the cottage in the forest? In addition to one bowl of porridge being to cold, one bowl being too hot and one being just right, there were two additional bowls... one bowl of asteroids and one bowl of debris from the space shuttle Columbia. What is the government hiding? Why didn't the government want us to know 5 bears lived in that cottage in the forest? Did you know Neil Armstrong wore a size 10 1/2 shoe when he went walked on the surface of the moon, but when he returned to earth he wore a size 5 shoe? Did you know there were only 5 wonders of the world before the government built the great wall of China and Machu Picchu? Why was the government hiding the fact that there was only 5 natural wonders of the world. I'll continue my research tomorrow... I'll get up at 5am, have a 5 course breakfast, drink 5 cups of coffee and use the restroom 5 times and then begin my research. I have a hunch The Jackson 5 was the crew of an alien space ship from Pluto... Pluto the dwarf planet... the dwarf planet that.... the dwarf planet that has 5 moons.... (The Twilight Zone music playing in the background)

I knew you wouldn't let me down, John. If I opened the door to a conspiracy theory, you'd run through it, handing out lit sparklers. Since you took it to England, I decided the orange stars are spray-tanned Spice Girls... I haven't figured out the time discrepancy, but I offer this: the street number of the Avalon was either 1244 or 1268 Sutter Street (depending on which door you used), a difference of 24, It operated from '66 to '69, a difference of 3. 24 and 3 is 27, two from 7 is.... 5! Oooh, I got goosebumps!

Five circles... a mystery only equaled by Stonehenge. In Stonehenge there are five Sarsen Trilithons* which gives fifteen large Sarsen stones... and like 5 circles, 5 orange stars and 5 syllables, all are evenly divisible by 5. Was Stonehenge built by the Druids of Celts? no, they only scored "5" on their SATs. Was Stonehenge built by aliens? Possibly. In binary, the number "5" is written as "101".... Highway 101 passes thru San Francisco, and we all know San Francisco has been ruled by aliens since the late 60's. I would go further, but listing 5 interesting facts about big Trilithons has been known to make an unsuspecting person to go into a coma. (if more than on person goes into a coma, that would he "comas"... five letters. Do I need to say more?)

*for those of you (ME) who has not eaten baklava or gyros on a regular basis, the word ‘trilithon’ comes from the Greek for “three stones”. A trilithon consists of two upright stones and a horizontal lintel atop these. note: The tzatziki sauce costs extra

PS The squiggle to the left camouflages the words "Family Dog Presents"

What was "The dance of the five moons", I wonder. Thanks for the Sparrow clip, I remembered the song when I heard it.

Just for fun, here's a link to Country Joe and the Fish's own web page. For someone who remembers the early days of the web, the 20 year old html is a sentimental journey itself. Click thru to the complete lyrics to "Fixin to die rag" - they couldn't embed YouTube links because none of that stuff yet existed....

I would imagine that Sparrow ate the fish.
