Thanks Bubble. ☺

These guys are pretty tough - I'd be sweating buckets - they probably have to practice a lot, but not for the faint-hearted - thanks Jumble - this is a good one :-)

Thanks Don.

SailorSam

He's a Welsh Guard - he has a leek on his collar...as opposed to a leak on his chin

Surreal_Heidi

Which just proves that they're brave, rugged men.

Hi Ann, I am proud of them too, and when you think about it, most of their big ceremonial parades are in the summer, and they do suffer.... Irene

Annmarshall1945

Feel so proud of our Coldstream Guards but so sorry for them in the summer but they look so smart .Thanks for posting this Jumble.....Ann

Irene the Guard has a brush in his Bearskin do you know what it signifies?

Definitely food for thought Irene..............Wendy

Jumble

Sorry to hear that Wendy, but what about cruising, that is luxury.... Irene

unicorn3

I wish I could Irene. #1 I am terrified to fly...#2 my health is the pits, I probably wouldn't be allowed to fly..............Wendy

Jumble

You are welcome Wendy, why don't you make the trip over, it can be a holiday of a lifetime if you time it right? Irene

unicorn3

Thank you Irene, that was interesting. Perhaps they are now wearing those special underwear pants to help embarrassing situations. I love Britain, my roots are there, but unfortunately I have never been there. Wish I could. I really appreciate all the info you gave me...............Wendy

Jumble

I agree, Wendy but they are soldiers and soldiers have to be tough and disciplined . Here is some information on a Queen's guard. Irene

Well, they do need to be hydrated for sure, but I would think because of heat stroke reasons, they could maybe break with tradition and have a nice but lighter hat. I am all about tradition, but there is a limit when a person's health is involved.............Wendy

Jumble

It's terrible Wendy, It's tradition gone mad. During the Trooping of the Colours last year, 5 guards fainted during the ceremony, they blame the guard for not drinking enough water before, though there are not toilets to use during the ceremony so its catch 22.
Here, a guard faints at Buckingham Palace.

unicorn3

I'm amazed the sweat is just not running from there. Those hats must be incredibly heavy and very hot. That is almost cruel to make them wear them in the summer............Wendy

Jumble

They do have a summer uniform Heidi, I think it's identical to the winter with thinner material. The problem is the busby (bearskin) that stays the same throughout the year.

Surreal_Heidi

Poor man! It would be nice if they had summer-weight uniforms.
